Long time no hear, engine color

Post by JR66Ford »

Well, I'm back after a long hiatus. Only the oldtimers might know me, like uncle skip and kid.

I finally got a call to do a restoration on a '66 F100. This is a ground up resto, back to original. It's a long bed camper special custom cab. Turquoise and white. Since restos aren't normally my thing, I may need to call out for info on colors and little things.

So, to make this post a legitimate truck talk post,...what's the correct color combination for a 352? Block? Sheetmetal? Etc... What about the auto tranny? Silver?

66's had blue engines. 65's had black with gold valve covers. Can't say on the trans...were they even painted?

Dwight has it nailed.
I have never seen a COM painted, the iron part is always rusty and the alum bell case is always alum in my experience.
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

you could just paint the transmission iron case with a dark grey color if they didnt come painted or just black. I think the dark grey would look good
