sorry Dan that is incorrect.
the pieces are not very much larger than in the picture
rough estimate 1|2" wide by 1 1\4" long
the center hole is threaded
no more hints

I am stumped. Maybe an accessory mirror mounting bracket?

strike 3 Dan
Justin is also incorrect
these are factory installed parts not something added aftermarket or dealer installed.
since this appears to be very tough i will give one additional hint
they are NOT on 65-66 2wd trucks

Brian, based on your hints my truck should have them, AND I should know where they are?
Cannot wait 'til the 'aha' moment.

I'm grabbing at straws here:)....cuzz I don't have any wrench time in on mine yet, but my two educated guesses are:
a bracket for the headlight adjusters to thread into??
or something to do with attaching the grille, but the fact that 65/66 don't use them tells me this one is a long shot

James
you are on the right track with the first one although the location and purpose is incorrect
but you do have 2 on your truck
i decided to let this run until Sunday, if there is not a winner by then i will reveal the answer
