Push Rod Cover Bolt 223 "6"

Post by Gritsngumbo »

I'm missing one of the bolts that hold the Push Rod Cover (?) on the passenger side of the engine. Anyone have one? (long cover w/4 bolts)

Rubber sink washer, flat washer, bolt. Take one you still have to the hardware store & match em up, should be fine. 223s are not exactly a super refined technical marvel, I have one I know. If the fuel line would quit clogging the old thing runs just fine on old bad gas with rust in it. Cept for the smell you'd never guess it hearing it run. Even ran on 4 cylinders for awhile when I first got it and just kept going. Finally put a head gasket in it cause I got tired of buying antifreeze.

Thanks! Glad to hear it's that simple. I've had the fuel problem too. Got stranded a couple of time for no apparent reason (other than no gas to carb) replaced the fuel pump, filter and finally disconnected and blew out the lines and back into the tank and the problem seems solved. Guess here's a "sock" on the end of the pickup line that gets clogged or sucked up and prevents gas flow.
Are we still on track for the oil bath air cleaner for the 1 bbl? Let me know the cost plus shipping and I'll get the $$ off to you.

I haven't forgotten bout the air cleaner. I just haven't been able to get off work early enough to get it dropped off to be tanked, sorry. I WILL get er for you though. I've had it draining for a week now.

Mark, first is your clutch adjusted to release completely? Second, pilot bushing being galled can "carry" the input shaft with the engine and make it hard to shift in some gears. Gotta be right with a granny tranny, 1st & reverse are not sincronized.

Grits.
Be sure to take another bolt with you to match the size, length and thread.
Ford is bad to use the fine thread bolts rather than the coarse threads like general service ones.
