A rant about raisins

Post by tomrooster »

I guess I don't have much to complain about but the quality of raisins lately got to me. Every morning I eat oatmeal and in that oatmeal I put raisins about 40-50 I guess , and in about 10 %- 20% of those raisins are pieces of stems from when they picked the grapes and I tried to pick them out but I always miss some and they get caught in my teeth or I have to pick them out of my mouth . I tried a couple didn't brands but all the same . There I'm done wineing . Tom

I've noticed the stems as well. Seems to be worse on the generic brands than the sun-maid or other top brands. Love me some dead grapes!

Always liked the golden ones, easier to spot the stems. Helps keep you regular. Not so important to the youngsters , but damn important for us old guys.

Forgot to add, certain parts of a pine tree can be eaten according to one health conscious person that died at 65. Grape vines are edible and can be smoked if you like that sort of thing.

Grape leaves are used for wraps as well !

We used to have dried prunes in the house all the time when I was a kid. I can't recall the last time I saw any at the grocery store?

Dietary supplements of the elderly. Just gotta love it!

Hell, stems and seeds were a problem 50 years ago...

Sure glad this is in the Off Subject section.

Carry on.

They call them dried plums now. Guess there is a negative connotation with "prunes". Associated with old people possibly?

Well , I found some raisins that I like, so far no stems, Sun-Maid Organic. Our local food store was completely out of all raisins (lots of retirement communities in my town) I looked on line at a company call JET.com they sell almost everything and that's where I found them. Thanks with putting up with my complaining. Tom
