A farmer made a truck mod.....

Post by slick4x4 »

Probably should put this in my build thread....
Thought maybe more would see it here
I am running the tail lights & blinkers in the original housing
But my brake lights are gonna be a bit different....
Very small , but VERY bright LED lights
I mounted them inside the "tubes" of the bed rails
It was quite simple , and not expensive

First pic is off & you can barely see the lens
(It's totally protected)
Image

Second pic is with the lights on
The wires will be tucked away & lights not noticeable when off
This is about as 'customized' as I'm gonna get....

I figured it's been done before
But I didn't know where I was gonna mount them until
I realized they would fit in there just perfect

They are very bright, don't pull hardly any amps

Cost was $7.50 a piece at a local trailer shop

Looks like a nice custom idea. However, I think that a certain number of square inches of illuminated area are required. I would suspect that would be equal to what was factory original. Looks good and I'm not trying to ruin your ingenuity!

I thought they too ,were incredibly small & wouldn't be legal
But the shop told me they are D.O.T. Legal.... In KANSAS anyway
Far brighter than the original ....
