New guy looking for a little more info

Post by CreepyOldGuy »

New guy here, my first post 8)

Since I am new, I guess I better say a little about me; long time Ford fan, no Slick right now but I do have an 85' F350 if that counts, at least a little. I have been a classic car buff since my early teens. My first car was a 66' Chevelle I bought at 14 with the money from my paper route.

As long as the Craigslist poster does not flake on me, I'm going to look at and hopefully purchase a 66' F250 2WD this weekend ;) I am excited to (hopefully) join the fold!

Anyway, looking for a little more info on SlickStock, I would like to attend with or without a Slick. I did read through most of the posts in this section but did not find the info I was after. I can't make the entire week so I was wondering if there is a schedule of events? Would it be best to come the first day and hang for a couple days or more towards the end? Will I be treated like a red-headed step child if I do not have a Slick with me

Thanks
Shaun

I was (not so much now!), the prototypical RHS; so I can in all honesty say you will be accepted, slick or not! As to timing, I'd say Friday and Saturday is probably the "don't miss" days! Schedule, we don't need no schedule! Events will be posted in advance, they are not required for grading, but you never know what you might miss! Stay tuned for someone to answer more efficiently!

Probably do a drive or two mon-Tues-wed
Thurs-fri-sat will have some (hopefully) events scheduled
Very layed back & relaxed atmosphere
A lot of talking , and a little bit of BSing.... :D
No trophies for anything
Try to get some participant plaques made
The guy hosting the event is a farmer & this is his first time hosting
But some of his jokes are legendary :D

This will be my fourth Slick Stock and don't have my truck done yet. About half or better of the people don't have a truck there and we all have a great time. If you come you get to talk trucks, solve the problems of the world, look at trucks of all levels, participate or watch valve car races, bring your money for silent auctions, and just bullshit with a lot of great people.

Hey guys, Thanks for the feedback!!

I am going to request Wednesday through the weekend off at work. Hopefully I can attend. Sounds like fun and it looks like there are a bunch of great people involved.

If it pans out, I will start a thread on the truck I am going to look at Saturday in the appropriate place.

Yes..... Slickitus (a disease carried by people attending SlickStock) is highly contagious ...
Luckily Some of us are much more resistant than others
Thank goodness I've dodged the bullet & kept my herd below 20

Shaun, first of all Congrats on joining the sickness. We are all infected
with it my friend and by the way, Creepyoldguy will be fun to wear as a nametag
for you! Should get lots of comments, Lol! I see you are from Colorado.
Headed there after SS for a week to spend with my mother in the springs.
You will meet a lot of best friends you never knew you had at SS. It is without
a doubt the best group of folks I have ever been a part of. Look forward to
seeing you there. Thursday - Sunday is the best but I plan on being there Monday
that week. TR
