I sent my vibration damper off to Damper Doctor in California last week to be rebuilt. They didn't have any cores in stock for the 223 but were able to rebuild mine in short order. I had 3 dampers total in my stash, so I sent the one to be rebuilt, and two more for core credit. The two I sent them were trash as well, but I got 30$ each for them. Total cost was 160 for rebuilt, minus the 60 for cores, but add 20 for shipping. I think they did a great job. The damper looks brand new.
This is the one they rebuilt for me.
This is how it returned in less than a week.

Had your damper spun and your timing marks did not show up? If not take a look at your pics. They are not lined up the same.

I saw that as well. I suspect it spun at some time. This came off the non-running engine.

I am pretty sure those are used to balance the damper

Check TDC marks on your damper. I never heard anything but good till I sent a special Chrysler a/c pulley in. Had to have it rebalanced. He used a soft grey rubber that came apart twice. He kept honoring the warranty except for the rebalance. The last time I sent the pulley to another rebuilder.

Re: Damper Doctor good to go
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I know the drilled holes are for balancing. I meant that they are not indexed the same in the after picture as in the before picture. The comment about the timing marks was that I assumed the balancer came off of her running engine and that maybe it had spun and the timing marks would not show up when attempting to time. Hope that spinning would have been the case. Either way she will not know until the engine is back together and it is put on TDC.unibody madness wrote:I am pretty sure those are used to balance the damper
Re: Damper Doctor good to go
You sent 3 dampers in, are you 100% sure the damper in the after picture is the exact same damper in the before picture. They may have built one of the 3 and it could have been different on each one. I wouldn't worry about it, just check TDC when you put things back together.
