Replacement liscence plate light socket?

Post by 64 f100 »

For some time now I've been watching for replacement pigtails for the license plate light. I have as yet not seen any anywhere advertised, although I have seen some backup sockets that might work as a replacement, the prices are to high on most of those. The light itself has been offered in repo by Dennis Carpenter, but I don't see them selling the pigtail socket for the light. I have several NOS light housings, but no sockets for these. Anyone know where I can get these? Thanks, Rich

Any chance of a photo of the NOS units that you have, and I'll ask a few sources to see if anyone does have them......?

I found some replacements, I guess I googled it , they weren't exact but they were made for our bumpers, one of the big hardware chains, they shipped them to my local store for free I think. I think led to. I'll try to find out who if your interested. Tom

Are you talking about these for the rear bumper?

The last set is not genuine Ford and are quite different from originals. I had not thought to check to see if the socket is the same , but I will when I get the chance. Dennis Carpenter has some similar with a D0TZ part number and will most likely work as a replacement and it has the right pigtail end. However, I have several NOS bodies without the pigtail and bulb socket. Tom, I'm am interested in LED replacements if these would have the socket that snaps into the body and the right pigtail on the end to fit the wire harness.

Yes the second pic is from eBay I found to work out if that's what you were referring to. I purchased the first one, they had sockets and pigtails included as pictured.

Well, I tried to get the socket and light out of the originals I have, and I don't know the trick, and the pop in sockets I see in the pictures are not the same setup as the originals. Have not taken the time to look these up in Ford books and see if they show a replacement pigtail. Do you know Tom?
Thanks,
Rich
