63 f250 stepside
Hey guys and gals,
I bought a 63 f250 step side truck a lil while ago after years of searching for a project car, and found the big beater on ebay.
thought i had some idea of a plan but so many things keep running though my head as to what i should do to the heap. the floors are pretty well buggered, the motors had a buggered carby and the cooling system was fried. put a 500cfm holley 2bbl carb, and new radiator, and electric fuel pump. to get it movable.
i bought a 460 block thinking ill build a kaase boss 9 motor and chase big NA power. build it up to run quick 1/4 mile times but still be "streetable"
or
build it low and slow keeping the y block and replacing the gearbox with a column auto, bagged and maybe lake pipes. this seems to be the cheaper option. using twall64's mean looking low 64 100 as inspiration.
but in blue and maybe vintage look signage on the doors
decisions decisions!!!! would like to see what everyone on here thinks. i am leaning toward the bagged custom look

Rhyse, they don`t come cheap, it`s a 28" FR20020PL column, but I need to move it so $950.00 + postage.. that's $450 cheaper than you can get here
http://www.flamingriver.com/index.php/p ... /FR20020PL
or $11,000.00 for the whole truck including the column...

Re: 63 f250 stepside
Option 2 me thinks, love a y block and laker pipes let alone cheaper and just cool. Not too many down here in freezetoria.... I mean Victoria.
460 would be great but I reckon the fuel consumption would destroy you on the street and I rarely whinge about fuel consumption of classics. Just saying it might end up annoying and hinder you driving it.
Welcome to the forum btw from another Victorian! Grew up in Melton so familiar with your neck of the woods!

An Alternate Vote
I say a 462 MEL, 3.54:1 gears and an OD. You can still have a useable truck and run it 100 mph for a couple of hours if the need arises. Stock height so the fences and ditches don't slow you down.

Anyone know what the outcome was? His last post was almost 2 years ago.

Didn't notice that. Loged in on an actual computer and this post was on this post index along with some polls. Back to the cell phone now.orangeRcode wrote:Anyone know what the outcome was? His last post was almost 2 years ago.
