I have not done a search on the site yet, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a good article on how to do this change?
Brakes bother me on mine, and one wheel cylinder is leaking.

There is a disc conversion kit on ebay for F100s now, not sure how to post the link. There also was one for F250s, but that was a while ago. If yours is a F250, it would be better to use a disc brake axle from a late 70s F250. I kept the drum brakes on mine and just added a dual master cylinder, power booster and distribution valve.

I put a set off Ebay on mine. They used the Chevrolet calipers and brackets on it, If you do a search for Dana 44 open knuckles there are several places they have them. I got them installed but put the project back to finish my wifes car. still in the back my sons trk has moved up in line now!!!. Here is a pic of them installed. If I remember there were some instructions for installation. Not to bad of a swap. Good luck

Thanks to both Pat and Mike for the information. I noticed there were two different sets one for an open knuckle and one for a closed. How do you tell the difference. Never messed around much with 4x4's, so I don't have reference for the terminology. While I'm at it, I might as well ask about the leaking seal on my drivers side,coming from the housing. What all does it take to replace the seal? My transfer case is also leaking, just blessed with work to do, and no time to get it done.

Closed knuckle is a ball at the end of the axle that fits over the spindle. This is a seal for a closed knuckle:. You remove the eight bolts holding the metal halves on and drain the ball. Cut the felt on one side and place it back where the old one came off with the cut facing up. Bolt everything back up and fill with a mix of wheel bearing grease 90wt the consistency of molasses.

The one in Mike's photos appear to be open knuckles, not sure though. The leaky transfer case may need new seals. Rebuild kits are still available. Check with local transmission shops or try it yourself. The transfer case will have to be removed and disassembled.

My 66's both 1/2 ton are open knuckles. My 66 Jeep CJ5 has closed knuckles on it. I use John Deere " cornhead grease" in them it seems to work well and doesn't leak as bad as other things. Just visit your local John Deere store comes in a grease tube. They guys on the Jeep forums recommend it.
I pulled my axles and had new u-joints put in while I did the conversion. there is an axle seal in the axle tube that you should replace while if you have the axles out.
