While I’m home waiting for the plumbers
The black trico blades here are shit. Looser than a night after drinking booze and gorging in Taco Bell.
Will pick something else up.
House counter offer.... they want me to share in closeting and I will not! Sweating them out a little. If the appraisal is called - they could say house worth less than I’m offering.

Re: my shipwrecked '63
“What is this place?! It’s a prison of bullshit!”.
I had a plumber out today to do work on the hot water system. They pulled the dip tube (inlet) and replaced it because there was a giant hole. So I would get half a tank of hot water before it was ice cold.
So, according to the landlord, there were other contractors who were supposed to be here today to get quotes. A window dude and a painter. Neither showed. So- I’m not an idiot. I suspect she did not actually call them and set up this meeting. I was here all day and nothing!
I took a day of vacation for this! My time is not free for her.
Anyway.
Found my new warranty plate.
Installed finally.
Question: 2 actually.
How can I get new tire material type straps like this? I don’t want to go buy a junk tire.
And 2nd, What is that white bar electrical device? It was mounted to the firewall when I took it off two years ago.

might try a muffler shop for the straps , and the white bar is a ballast resistor.

April,
Jon
A couple things come to mind, one would be a piece of conveyor belting, the other would be a piece from a heavy mud flap from a semi, of course both would have to be cut and drilled to replace the rubber.shipwrecked wrote:How can I get new tire material type straps like this? Like Danny said that is a ballast resistor for your ignition system, if you converted your distributor to electronic ignition you do not need it anymore (unless the instructions say to use it), it's purpose originally was to reduce the voltage the points were breaking from 12v to around 10v making the points last longer with less pitting, of course if you are going back with the original points system you will want to reuse or replace it.shipwrecked wrote:And 2nd, What is that white bar electrical device? Re: my shipwrecked '63
April, congratulations on the house! Now you another project to work on, LOL! The truck is looking good. Your investment is scary high to me. I haven't really started on my truck yet and I had a figurative budget of $8000. That is for body metal/work, a new IFS, engine, 5 speed, interior, paint, and wheels/tires. Once my house is done, I'll have a sit down honest budget meeting.

Re: my shipwrecked '63
Been busy all week more than usual.
Came home yesterday to my new turn signal cam
Spent the whole day down in Suffolk and Norfolk. Norfolk selling my motorcycle. I can’t ride. That neck surgery I had really did a number on me. My arms fall asleep after a few miles so it’s not safe for me to ride. Money I got from that just sitting in the bank till I get this house bought on closing. I didn’t have to pay any closing fees, but I want to be sure I have a little scratch available.
Mostly spent the morning getting a root canal redone. I had it completed 3 or so years ago in NJ but the dentist who did it didn’t do a good job. Bacteria was still in there causing infection and pain.
Got a great endodontist in Suffolk who used to be in the Navy. She is awesome and fixed me right up.
So, today I have a quick indoc at Saint Leo University on Ft Eustis as I start school again on Monday. I also have to wait around the house again for a contractor to look at a broken window. If you try to open it, it pulls the frame off the glass. Anyway, the landlord sprung that on me at 8pm.
48 days till out of this house!

Re: my shipwrecked '63
I grouped tools, shipping, shop supplies etc into this build. Like anything associated with the truck. That’s why it seems high. I can always use these tools and other items on another build but to initiate the build I had to spend money. Plus, I tend to do things more than once if I don’t like the initial outcome.... painted some pieces a few times, so that takes money in more Supplies. You’ll be fine!ohmthis wrote:April, congratulations on the house! Now you another project to work on, LOL! The truck is looking good. Your investment is scary high to me. Re: my shipwrecked '63
More random stuff done today. Trying to attach that cam to the post but the locking washer is kicking my butt.
Messing around on NPD, I found they finally have ABS plastic headliners like they do for the bump and dent side trucks. I was wanting one instead of a cardboard style so I bought one..... and I went on Etsy for a few vinyl stickers... will show you when they come in later this week.
Other than that, I only been watching YouTube and playing with the pups.. nothing else going on right yet.

April great progress on your truck the white ceramic bar with the connectors on either end is a ballast resistor used in ignition systems to reduce voltage to the distributor.

Re: my shipwrecked '63
Giving a few things a try.
Bought a ABS plastic headliner.
Have a giant piece of vinyl.
And now it’s mated with the headliner. I used a heat gun to help.
Another touch of something I liked.
I sure hope it still fits when I install this weekend.
Home inspection on Saturday morning!

April,
That is about the coolest thing I've seen in quite awhile, if I might ask where did you get the headliner and the cost?
Excellent job Ma'am!

Agreed! That headliner is "Mac-Daddy" in my opinion. The 'compass' is certainly a cool touch. Nice!

Re: my shipwrecked '63
Headliner was from National Parts Depot. Was about $250.00. Here’s why I bought this one. I can’t afford Irl’s fiberglass one that I would like, but I wanted better quality than a $140 piece of perforated cardboard. It’s made of ABS plastic and has a little bend in it due to how they roll to ship it.
I took rubbing alcohol and cleaned the smooth side and put my large red vinyl decal sheet on that. Then placed my compass decal on top of that. If it holds out, awesome.
If not... I’ll take it down and paint the plastic.
I bought the decals from Etsy. The compass was $20.00
I planned to install it tomorrow, but may do it tonight. Depends on how I feel. Co-worker brought a Noro virus in to work and I’m not feeling well.

Re: my shipwrecked '63
SO this is a bear to put in... especially by yourself.
My arms fell asleep a few times trying to put in this piece. I have issues holding my arms up over my head for more that a few minutes and I of course am working on a headliners.
I had to go buy some more screws. The totally stainless kit I bought a few years ago had some for the headliner but not enough.
It’s a struggle to get the rear piece in place. Just got back from China freight where I bought some larger hook tools and nylon pry bars, I will use those to help peel the window seal up over the panel.
Bring you back when I get some more done.
