61-64 w/ (OG ford) brake booster mount direct to fire wall?

Post by aj64f100390-292 »

Hey guys I have played around with the bumpside booster parts and have decided I want to mount a booster directly to the firewall to save room and have a cleaner look. I found these 61-64 trucks with boosters mounted directly to the firewall. What have you guys used? My dads confused because he swears that he bolted a 83 f150 booster to his '60 and just had to make his own pedal linkage..but this was 28 years ago...and I've read the 57-60 is the same pattern as 61-64. Hopefully you guys can help me out.

Thanks in advance

Some people said they thought that was a Mustang booster.

And after searching for pictures if I'm remembering right this one seems to be off a 64 galaxie.

I was using a small dia 69 Torino booster, but it had an adapter plate that I made, and then made an adjustable rod to the pedal. Sorry no pictures, took it off and gave it to a buddy for his truck. I like the manual disc feel better than the touchy power stuff.

I used a 2000 ish Ranger booster . Had to redrill one hole to a different spot. Late 60s Fairlane MC. Played around with booster to pedal linkage and it works great. Power drums !

This is what I used. It is a booster/MC from a 65-66 mustang, all I had to do was redrill two holes in mounting brackets to match firewall and pedal bracket holes. and I used a 3/8" thick piece of aluminum to use as a spacer from the fire wall, but I probably didn't need it if I would have shortened the adjustable rod that it came with.

thanks looks pretty roomy around the booster and valve covers!

I did forget to mention that my engine doesn't set where it normally would. My truck is settting on an 85 crown vic chassis. I don't know if that's why I have so much clearance around the valve covers or not. The engine does set a lot further forward. I didn't have much choice, the truck had a nice body, but someone took the engine and transmission out of it and cut all the cross members out with a gas axe.
