home ownership projects while i wait on truck parts

Post by shipwrecked »

I've been waiting 7 weeks for head bolts to come in. in the mean time, I am finally tackling a few projects around the house I have wanted to do.

the mailbox was always a eye sore since I bought the house last year. and over the year it got worse.

Debated on paying someone to do this for me because I felt so blah and tired all the time. Somehow with the new sunlight and warmth, I found the energy to do it.

$108 in supplies at the box store.

and a sunburn.

I primed it with kilz outdoor

painted it almond like the exterior of the house.

painted the numbers too cause they were black.

Best looking mailbox in the neighborhood!

Up next.... tailgate left over from the build that was too far gone to repair- I want to turn it into a footboard for my bed.

Very nice job, can't wait to see the tailgate idea. I'm sure it will turn out as well. Stay COOL.....

I have most of the truck parts, just waiting on time.....

We have a 1950's Sears And Roebuck mail box kit at our house. Hate to take it down but my wife wants a brick housing put up around it. Going to get a new box and get the S&R box to someone who likes the old stuff. Both of our medicine cabinets are S&R installed when our house was built in 1951.

The folks fostering my dogs for my deployment are in a community that have a mailbox at each street corner with unused dog poopy bags inside them. Just a thought.

Not a bad idea if people would use them.
