At SS in KC a few of you asked what I was getting for milage.
I said 16 to 19, and that I hadn't really checked it. It had only been to SS, a few local cruise nights and car shows.
I don't have a Odometer on my cheap heads up speedometer, so I have to pull out a map an hand figure milage.
So last weekend I loaded the old truck up with chainsaws, fuel, oil, 55 sheets of corrugate barn tin, fasteners, etc. And headed to my mother's to do some maintenance around her place and roof the old garage. I drove 62 to 68 mph average and got 21 mpg on the way up. 65 miles used 3 gal of diesel... Not bad for a thrown together big truck drivetrain in a 3/4 unibody. I can definitely live with the 16+ mpg about town and 21 highway.
I've gotten really lucky on my junkyard drivetrain, and how it performs.
So there is my worth of useless info for today.

Pretty good !
You did a great job shoe-horning that engine in there
20+ MPG is good for a full size pickup

Re: MPG with a Cummins...
I swapped a 4BTA into my 66 F250 and milage is in the low 20’s.
Far better than the 13 mpg with the 300/6. Cummins has a lot more torque as well.
I am very happy with the swap.

If it cain't be fixed with a sledge hammer it must be an electrical problem!
