Oil test equipment

Post by shipwrecked »

Now if you’ve seen my Facebook, you’d seen this already.

In my ships engineroom, we have cabinets full of tools, test equipment and the like.

We found this box.

Labeled for engine oil tester.

Inside we found expired canned food.

All this expired before 2017.

So where did the tester go?.

I would be more concerned that the oil in those big diesels hasn't been tested since before 2017.

No. We do falling ball tests daily and send samples out to a Lab every quarter. This test equipment was an old system. We have a spectromkit onboard we also use.
