I broke the shaft on the clutch petal
I broke the shaft on the clutch petal in my driveway. I just made it home from a cruise night the night before . Lucky to have a spare

It'll break again. In fact, I'll bet if you look closely at it, you will see that it was repaired at least once before. What I did was buy 2 3/8" ball joints and a threaded rod at ACE hardware. Eight years later, it is still working as well as when I installed it with no wear in the ball joints. I also replaced the push rod at the bottom with a similar setup up. And because the last clutch was a heavy duty one that destroyed my steering column support bracket, I also replaced the bracket with one modified with heavy duty pivot bearing housings. I eventually replaced the heavy duty clutch (it cracked the bell housing) with a normal one (with the help of Bill W). The whole thing has been trouble free for 80,000 miles ... so far.

Just happened to me at work today in the parking lot when leaving for lunch. Ordered the ball joints to do this upgrade. I'll wait until late tonight (less traffic) and drive her home clutchless. This'll be interesting.

Ended up getting 3/8-24 threaded rod and the ball joints from Napa and did the conversion. Clutch feels like brand new.
