Re: my shipwrecked '63
Changed plans last night. Instead of doing oil filter leak, I hooked up all yhe gauge and fan controller. I got it to turn on as designed, and I took shipwrecked on its shakedown drive thru the neighborhood.
To do:
Install new speedometer cable
Wire housekeeping
Brake adjustment
Steering alignment
Fix oil leak
Horn
Get new glove box inners. I busted the old one putting on heat valve
Finish heat control cable Install.
Fix wing window on passenger side
Fix mirror- so annoying
Wash
Cut/buff paint
Wax
And drive it as often as possible

Congratulations! Looks and sounds great. Not sure what the weather/seasons are like by you, but I hope you can get some more time behind the wheel before winter.

Weather here in the Hampton Roads isnt bad. Gets chilly, but snows in Feb or March like 1 time. Rain is typical, or just dry and chilly. A
The heater core in my truck is in great shape and it works. I tested the heater last weekend.
I intend to drive it often.
My m38 jeep project is almost done too. I can pick up the manifold from the machine shop tomorrow. That's the last big piece I need before I can set up to start the jeeps engine. Everything else is done.
I have a M100 trailer to go with my jeep. It won't take me long to rebuild that. I need to find another project or hobby. I'm out of available parking at my house,

Such a great feeling to go out for a shakedown run!! Thank you for sharing the video with us. Wish I was smart enough to have captured some of my first trips. Uh, maybe its a good thing I didn't on several of them! Hope you get lots of seat time before leaving again. Congratulations!

Love the truck, congrats. My mirror does same thing, I have to carry a wrench for adjustment. Man, I haven’t driven a 3 on the tree in 40 years. Yours looks really smooth !

Re: my shipwrecked '63
Arctic blast come thru the area this week. I barely left the house.
Merry Christmas everyone. 10 years on this forum this week.
2 ships, 3 dogs, 4 pcs transfers, 5 houses and all that with 1 slick truck
Yes I dressed my dogs up for Christmas. They didn't care as long as they got treats, walks, and a little bit of love.

I don't know what happened to my post from your car show report but glad you got to show off Shipwrecked and all of your work!
Also really like the F-bomb. I gotta find one of those!
Great Christmas photo too. Our Schnauzer didn't want to wear his sweater this year

Re: my shipwrecked '63
July 21st 2023.
I lost my Diesel.
he was just shy of 16 years old and I was away. Thankfully my dad was able to call and be on the phone while I talked to the vet about what to do. Diesel died at 11pm.
I am thankful I was able to take him for his ride in the F100 in May before I departed for Baltimore and a shakedown (which is not going well).
When I took this photo- it instantly made me sad. But I am glad I kept it.
Age 15 and Age 43.
Age 5 and Age 33.

Re: my shipwrecked '63
Stinks to loose a pet, especially one you've had that long. We lost our son 5 years ago, we had 6 (now 5) dogs that keep us distracted. We lost one little fellow last year that was too brave for his own good and that is what got him. May have been different if the big dogs hadn't stayed behind with me that week. My wife carries our Miniature Doxin Arnold in a basket like Diesel is in. He seems to like it. Looks like Diesel enjoyed his trips to town also.

If mine looked like that and yours pulled in I'd hang my head in shame, close the hood and go home.

That is a very sad thing to go through April. It definitely tears your heart out. I'm glad you got some pictures with him and the truck(s). I sure cherish the ones I have of our last two dogs in my truck. Hope you have a safe deployment and get home soon to see your other pups!

Re: my shipwrecked '63
If you didnt catch it on facebook- i put in to retire from the Coast Guard in August 2024. which means i would go on leave in mid april and come back from honolulu and be on vacation till 1aug. With my retirement, (and any VA disability) i will find a part time job for fun, or go to college for fun.
ive had enough of the Coast Guard. Passion for the job is dwindling fast.

6 months to go still. have to get that ship to Hawaii, get it through a 3 month patrol and then I am scott free.
looking forward to moving on. it's like i know the relationship is over, but this is the time we have to "work it out" for a bit.

Re: my shipwrecked '63
Been home two weeks now and have taken Shipwrecked out to stretch the legs a few times. Lots of lookie lues and thumbs up!
Have about 200 miles on the engine since I rebuilt this truck. Tracks nice when I let go of steering wheel, but I am still getting an alignment on it tomorrow. I drove over to the ford dealer yesterday to set the appointment, and the service manager came out and said that if it was anyone else but me, he'd have asked immediately to purchase it. But he knew I don't give up easy so he would have lost.
New things to come. I ordered disc brakes. I also ordered the wheel spacer, and some new longer wheel studs so i can use my stock wheels.
They should be here any day. I am committed to doing that project. Not that there is anything wrong with drums, but i was in traffic the other night going to a cruise in, and dumb dumb tried to run me off in an intersection where I would have lost had i not slammed the brakes. It pulled HARD right too. I know i can adjust them, but i do not have the self adjusting brakes.
Got a trailer hitch coming so i can modify the rear on the truck a little to accept it. I am collecting materials to build another tear drop camper this spring/summer. I intend to pull it behind the truck.
