Is there a better state out there?

I call this home, works for me! This is what I see on my daily commute to the bush

I agree with Iceman in the misconception of our homes, although I am glad people think Canada is a frozen wasteland, just leaves more paradise for me!

It is really sad what people think other states are like. Sterotypes are bad for this reason. Because one person had a bad experience, it is bad for everyone. I know plenty of people who are bitter that their families moved to large towns. THey were affraid that they would be mugged at every corner. Arizona is 100000000 degrees at all times of the year regardless of where you go, Canada well they don't have cars thats why their police is on horseback, and you all live in igloos. Florida is where the cocain comes from (hey I have seen Scarface), and California is where all the really friggen crazy people come to thats why we have Celine Dion, Howie Mandel, Steven King, and Britney. Bottom line, ever state has its own beauty and plenty of things wrong with it.

i agree. i have been to many places and found good and bad points.

I've lived in Pennsylvania for 56 years. It's a pretty state. It is becoming so populated right now that I would love to live up there in Alaska.
I would have to get used to the weather but would be happy with the space.
People tend to remember the bad things when they visit other states. I went to Florida about 20 years ago and loved it until the storms started. Their storms are nasty compared to what we get up here. Scared the crap out of me. Stormed for 10 minutes then cleared up for 1/2 hour and then back at it again. That was in the end of July. I really liked it there. But I remembered the weather and like it here better. It's a beautiful state but not for me.
The Carolinas are nice too. It wouldn't take much to get me down there.
Never been to Texas or any other western state. Sounds good though.
Alaska sounds like the place for me but I'm stuck here until the next round. I'm not into rubbing elbows with everybody when I go away but I guess I'll have to get used to it.
As long as I have my Slick I'm happy.

PS,, that water that licks up on the shores of Houston and Corpus Christi in Texas..? that is the Atlantic ocean... western state indeed.

Thank you Jarrod for the igloo reference. That is the precise reason my slick sits in my heated shop. The igloo gets too bloody cold to get anything else accomplished in. As you all can see, JC's experiment with trying to build a house in this frozen tundra just leads to breaking water pipes and other such annoyances. As for the Mounties on horseback, I can't wait for them to rear up and chase my Slick!!!

JC it is not the Atlantic ocean, but the gulf of Mexico. i lived there long enough to learn that. Texas was not bad, it was the heat and humidity that i could not handle.

I grew up in the Boston area. Annual snow fall in Anchorage is about the same. Temps average about 10 degrees cooler. Not much of a change from where you are. Our black bears are about the same size. Browns can be huge. Fish are bigger. We don´t have any bass.
2 hr. drive North (Ice Man country) it is 10 to 20 degrees cooler in the winter and hotter in the summer.
I have lived in Texas, Kentucky, Florida, California, Massachusetts and Wyoming. Here is where I choose to live. Not for everyone.

i actually recently did a little looking to areas with the least amount of natural disasters, and Hawaii had the least, only think they warned about was a volcano, no snow, temperature stays in the mid 80's-low 90's.. we went there this last summer it was great

CCC66: Sorry for your trouble. Hope you find that your homeowners will cover the damage. I guess we never think of an accident coming to us, do we? Although I don't drive my slick very much, I carry full coverage on it (especially since the Blue Book shows it at a pretty good value. It costs me less than $45 per month which I consider a good investment considering all the "cell-phone-talking, Suburban-driving, Junior League housewives" around here.

As to relocating. I've lived in quite a few places in my life (including GA, NC, VA, MO, CA, NV and LA) and they all have had good and bad things to say about them. Don't think anyplace is perfect (except Alaska and Texas) if you can believe the posts on here LOL. Good luck with your search if you're serious and not just frustrated by the crappy weahter.
