Secure spare tire carrier

I added a link to the help section. I just got done fabbing up a spare tire carrier. It looks like it is on the bed floor but it is off the floor about an 1" give or take. Can be made for whatever height needed. Out for powder coat Monday.

you betcha, nothing like playing highway hockey at 65 and on a bridge. Still relive that one in my head. Kosko drops the puck at center Ice, Wood shoots and scores.

Wayne, i have to say you do some very nice work.

i need to come up with a plan for a spare tire holder for the wifes truck, also stepside but because of snow it cannot lay on the ground, must sit upright. under frame is also out of the question.

Charlie, my truck now has Kosko Disease. While climbing the hill at the local junkyard my bomb door opened and I found the spare laying halfway down the hill. Still haven't put it back.

Chebbys still have the dented fender on the long boxes.. not sure about Fords. I could only find pics of Brand X.

How strange that for years and years and years, the fat fender guys were peeling off them fenders, and tossing them out, and now, you are the second person (Sinc being the first) who actually needs one. Wonder where all the fat fender ones have gone..

Guess if you mount it high enough you can miss the fender..the height might not be practical on a 4x4 tho.

Ice, the spare was under the frame when it shot out in the road, we were on our way and just about at the F-100 supernats. in Tenn. It could've been alot worse, at least it was laying flat in the road and my straight axle took the brunt, hate to think what it would've done to a new vehicle.

Needmoretime: Is the box in the back one of the gas tank/truck box combination? I am thinking of getting one but wanted to hear from someone who actually has one.

I went to Tractor Supply Co and it was as close to perfect as I could find. 48 wide 17 high and has a recessed area that slips under the front edge of the panel. Its just a box but looks great.

We found Sinc one! Fender and bracket. To your point they want big bucks for the oe setup! 85 for teh bracket and 200 for a fender.

I sold my in-bed upright holder for a spare on eBay for like $50 3 or 4 years ago,, that was for a style side bed, so I am not surprised at the bracket price. But $200 for a fender everyone throws out... wow.

Someday that fender will be the expensive one to find. Reproductions of the regular fender have been available for a while but I doubt anyone will ever make these new. So for anyone wanting that period correct look, they will yhave to find a nice used fender and brackets.
I have that setup from a 54 in my barn. Was hoping Sinc was making a roadtrip to come get it.
