I dont know im not in to really low. thats what racecars are for
this also is a straight axel front, and maybe ill leave it alone, maybe ill put some kind of IFS on it, I havent really thought about all of that much, I think for now I am going to finish what was started on it (12V conversion, might just put it back to 6 ) and drive for now I need to finish some other things before I decide if I will even hot rod it out or not. Its actually much neater as a factory truck. with the three speed, column shift and automatic overdrive, plus nobody under 30 knows how to start it
it sounds cool with the inline flathead 6. I might just do like I used to with it and make part store runs for a few years

Looks good Shawn
I always had a thing for Studebaker's and wish I could have held on to the ones I had in the past.
Had a 57 transtar that I converted to 4x4 as a youngster but if I had it to do over it would have remained stock.
Well allmost stock anyway the vacuum wipers would have to go.
A couple of things I really liked about the 57 was the way the wing window canted out and created a great dead air space behind it.
I like driving with the window down most of the time.
Also liked how the rear springs were set up. Mine had a stack of straight leafs with a couple of arched ones on top.
Rode like a car empty and worked like a truck loaded.
Good luck with it

There are several of those pups around my locale, one that is dead stock and panted in faded highway yellow, that a guy used to tow behind a grader for a ride home during highway construction. I have spoken to that old dude at length at a few car shows. He just loves it the way it is. Untouched and unrestored.
Then, there's one that a guy who did my buddy's bump Merc's body work has. His is mint and looks like it just rolled out of the showroom. Drives it to Stude meets all over NA.
Although they would make a very kewl rod, and i don't feel for studes like I do for old Fords, so far as cutting them up for rods, I think it would be cooler to keep it stock. Much more appealing to a wider range of people if you know what I mean.
What I think would be a super cool rod would be a 70's international. Never ever seen one of them rodded out. Wonder what Chip Foose could do with one of them

nice truck shawn. looks like it will be a fun project. i love to see people do cars that have family value to them.
As for the international my grandpa has a 4x4 as a farm truck. it runs strong and will climb anything but i the rivet gun is the reason it is still together. but man that truck is tough.

Shawn, there certainly isn't a thing wrong with restoring it either.

Bigger Motor
There is a guy here in Ohio that runs a Studebaker in the supermodified 4wd class tractor pulls. He put a bigger motor in his Stude.

Hey guys, just checking in. cool trucks you all have posted. I have been really busy this week, working on both trucks. ( Having my internet down has helped me get out of the house) Anyways I put the radiator back in the stude. cleaned up the cab ( what a mess) cleaned up engine bay, and the bed with all of its goodies back there. Found a box of extra friction shocks. a Original studebaker Radio that fits in the dash. extra trim pieces. Tons of spare Generators, Starter motors, Even a extra Transmission, rear end and whatever else there is, lots and lots of extra miscelaneous parts.
I also worked out my plan to finish the 64. have 3 pages of stuff listed lol. started on more interior wiring. for the Neutral Safety lockout so I can race it at Club Clash ( Drag racing) as well I need to finish fighting with my power window harness (might just run my own wires and make it simple)
then today a Neighbor drove by in his 66 Long Bed Custom cab with the 360. nice work truck. guy has tons of old cars and lives just down the street. says I moved to the right place. Everyone is a car nut around here
anyways I wont be on so much for a while until I get my internet figuredo ut, this Dial up is sooooooooooooo sloooowwwwwwwwwwwww

sweet truck. it looks like the staypuft marshmallow monster... haha
If it were mine.... I would keep the front axle, probably keep the ride height, MAYBE like a 1-2 inch drop, but man, it looks nice...
I dont know nothin about the engine... i think it would be slickest to keep the engine, but maybe spice it up a bit with some (probably custom) squeezier pistons.... that would be cool. The flathead just sounds quite appealing right now!

well as of now I am planning on leaving it original, its just too cool as an original. ould have to put the generator back in it and the 6 volt battery is still in the bed, that stuff has been working for 58 years so I dont see why it wouldnt work for another 58 years. or I might just finish this 12v conversion. I need to dig out my alternator identification chart Car quest gave me years back and figure out which one this one is so I can just wire it up, there are brand new lights in the bed for the conversion and a bed full of goodies, even an original Studebaker radio that goes in the dash, hell my 64 didnt even come with a radio lmfao. anyways I wont be doing much to it for a while, I have been pounding out dents in my 64, need to get it finished before I go insane

this is the good side
