for the life of me i can not figure why any one would go and lower a truck' when i become dictator of america and after i conquer canada which wont take but a day or two my next act of cleansing the world will be making it a crime and only lifting shall be allowed

Well Crewzin, as a veteran, I guess its good your not a dictator since everyone has their own tatse in vehicles, would everyone have to dress like you as well? I think the truck is great like it is. I have 2 trucks and one is lowered and one is lifted but no matter if this truck was lifted it would still be a good looking truck. Only thing I would change about that truck is MY name on the title.

whitey i realize that evryone is entitled to there own opinion. yes that truck was very nice and easy to see someone put alot of time & money into it. i was only voicing my opinoin. i was only overexzadurating my opinion. tryin to be humorous, i never plan on being a dictaor i dont hate lowriding trucks so much that i think they should be outlawed, and i do not have nothing aginst the canadians, they just happened to be the first country i thought of. sorry if i offended you.. i got one more opinion, its only my opinion so dont get upset.
i think anyone who drives any car or truck painted puke green should have to kiss my ass

No hard feelings for that. The way i was saying it was different than the way it was read. I get slack for it from the guys at my tattoo shop and the guys on my boxing team. I thought about painting it but the whole damn truck is that color...interior, behind the bumbers, under the hood....everywhere...too much trouble besides it makes the truck stnad out when going down the road....makes people look and say nice old truck even those who dont know what old trucks are about. Hell I had 2 ladies in a BMW convertible tell me "we like your truck". I never would ahve thought those type of people even look. Good to see that people of all types apprciate someones hard work.

Shwan F. The wheels sizes you are looking for are likely 20x10 rear with a 4.5 b.s. The blue truck here and the copper and gray one in my gallery appear to wear the same wheel. If you don't want to go with a 20 the primered uni in my gallery wears an 18x10 with a 4.5 b.s. You could go with an 11" wide wheel but would still need to run a 295 tire which in my opinion looks better on the narrower 10" wheel. Fronts are normally 8" wide depending on front end with a 4" b.s.[albumimg]2789[/albumimg]

Thanks for the info. I think I will go 17 in front and 18 out back the biggest. Reason for that is I dont want rubber band tires and want to have about a 55 series tire and want the back tires to be taller sidewall than the front. I can't stand a bigger rear wheel but a thinner tire. Also the taller wheel and tire will help my gear ratio out. I am running 3.70's but plan to put a posi 3.25 out back and with even a taller wheel/tire ratio that should help my freeway rpm's go down. I thought less backspacing means more dish in front though? On my 68 Lincoln I know with a 18 inch wheel you can use a 0 for backspacing and have a huge dish....
So here is what I will plan to do (not final).
17X8 up front with 4 inch backspace?
18X10 in rear with 4.5 inch backspace?
I haven't decided on the wheels yet but they are either going to be that AR Torq Thrust wheel with grey center and polished lip or I might find some steel wheels in chrome in 17 and 18 inch (they make them because I've seen it before) and have the lip chrome or polished and the center black with a baby moon cap. It will give the vintage stock look but a bigger wheel and nice stance.
Maybe I will mess with photoshop or find someone to do it for me to show what I mean.
Sorry for the long post.

65comet404 wrote:I bought the wheels here http://www.wheelsforless.com/vintage_wheels.htm They are the torque thrust cl205. Backs are a 20x10 with 3 inches backspace and the fronts are 18x7 with 43/4 backspace. The rear tire is a 295/45/20 and the front is a 225/45/18. Coys wheels might be cheaper but they did not have the custom backspace I needed. Bolt pattern on the wheels is 5x43/4. Need any other info let me know. Thanks for the compliment.

My dad's 40 with 18s and 20s. Thats my guess whats on that truck too. Looks great. 18s and 20s is a good combo, I think 20s and 22s look great too but I would assume it would be a lot more work.

Just noticed the truck has the same wheels as the 40, except the rear are wider. I believe they are torq thrust 2's but I would have to call my dad to be 100%

The Comet looks fairly ok, but those wheels on the '40 just look lame, IMO. 40's need fat rubber to go with the fat fenders, the wagon wheels just ain't makin' it. :P
They would look a little better on a Uni, but...

Shawn F. If you think that you want to go with the 17x8 with the 4" b.s. and the 18x10 with the 4.5" b.s. it would look exactly like this 62 uni. The rims on the Comet above have a reversed style lip that American offers as opposed to the standard barrel and they can be bought cheaper.

Cheaper? please explain?

Also, what is the method of lowering that truck? Front and rear?
Drop axle I assume?

(Great truck!)

Cheaper?... I'm a dealer for the product. The stance is created by a mustangII and a flipped axle in rear. I hate to mention this chassis decision in this forum. Let the bashing begin!

The wheels on the red comet are EXACTLY the same (CL205 AR Torq Thrust II"s) that I want with as much dish like that as possible. Pretty much I want that exact same deep dish on the first blue truck of this post.

I kept my wheel tire combo more simple, 15x7s front & 15x8s rear with 225 x 60s front & 275 60s rear. I just wanted to stay abit more traditional and still have some stagger in the combo. Don't think for a minute that "Bullitt" style wheels didn't get considered though.
Love the 65 Comet 2 door post! I used to have a black one, was gonna go gasser or A/FX style with it. I would still like to find another one and finish that project someday. Hot Rod first though.
