Got my new wheels & tires today! NEW Pics! With Paint

Post by Greg D »

Wish I could upload a pic, Ill get some tomorrow and upload them to photobucket. New front tire size steers pretty good and dropped the front of the truck abit more. Now I can swap in the mono leafs and start on the rear springs.
The guy calls me yesterday and I didn't see the missed call/message til after they had closed. Turns out the center caps won't fit in the rear wheels. He spent along time on the phone with American Racing and the rep there said to offer me the 3 bar spinners for 1/2 price, guess what I ordered today.

American Racing Series 132 Rodmasters, 15 x 7 front with 225 x 60s & 15 x 8 rear with 275 x 60s BF Goodrich Radial TAs. I'll get a better pic of the wheels later, working on getting my compressor hooked up right now.

Looks great. The old (almost) Kidney bean style wheel. They should look sharp with the 3 spoked center cap.

Salt Flats were 12 to 16 weeks +! and no return or refund! They are all custom order, so what ever they send you own, what if they got my backspacing wrong?
Besides with gray centered salt flats it would have been too tempting to leave the truck primer.

Greg, The wheels look great. Your hood spears look good too. Did you repaint the red??? If so what type of paint and any special prep to make sure the paint sticks????

If I ever had the chance to get my hands on a lwb uni worthy of modifications (not one like your's it's too nice) I would take some of the a$$ off it. Like this...

Those hood spears aren't that nice, I just painted them with the same Duplicolor sprayed into a container that I used on the red wheels. When I paint my good pair I will likely use epoxy paint, pretty tough stuff should hold up pretty good. Just make sure they are good & clean.

Thanks for the complements guys! These were my original choice for it before Heavy photoshopped Salt Flats onto a pic of my truck. When I found out the wait time and the other issue with the Salt Flats I just didn't want them anymore. Turns out I have the last 2 15x8s in Ford truck bolt pattern they made, the Rodmasters are discontinued now.

I repainted mine with One Shot signpaint.
They sell it at autobody supply places around here. Its one of the last lead based paints. Good stuff. If you worry about adhesion use this
