there is not a body shop out there that would put the time and care and effort into your truck that you would if you could. there for this is going to be a learning experience for me and I need to prove to myself I can do it. Plus When I do finally get it done I can look at it and say "i done that" (which could be good or bad I suppose lol)

HELP! Is the body shop taking me for a ride? Houston TX
That's true, most body shops you talk to will tell you there's no money in restoration. They pay the bills by working with insurance companies on collision repair. All they have to do is replace a fender on a car and make three times as much as anybody would be willing to pay on a restoration. Restoration takes time and you have to deal with picky customers who don't want to pay a lot of money.
In the first post, if you paid $1100 for repair on two floorpans and the center hump; that money could have bought a good welder and plenty of scrap steel to teach yourself how to weld. Your first truck won't win awards for pretty welds but if you're building a show truck, expect to pay money for someone who knows what he's doing.
