I wanna see some pics of the front suspension.... I wanna know what you got goin on under there...

ERRRR EDIT. I'm not sure how I never saw this thread before... I looked in on the 3rd page and forgot I hadnt seen it from the get go.

I'm REALLY excited to find out how this thing drives.... That's just about EXACTLY what I've been envisioning for Aggie, you've just beat me to it... Now I can learn from what happens with yours...

I think that if the truck stays firmly planted on the ground, there should be no problem with the reverse links. If it ever somehow came off the ground, then sunk a wheel in a pothole it could be big trouble, but unlikely I might think.

I think I might put some ridges ahead of and behind the axle to positively prevent the axle from slipping on the links. Especially with all 4 u bolts, I dont really think there would ever be an issue, but I like to over engineer stuff for any possibility.

OH hey I just thought guys, how is a rigidly linked (torsion bind) suspension ANY DIFFERENT than a huge sway bar?
I know the sway bar is spring steel, and flexes a BIT, but not much. Granted, I guess the setup is still rigid enough that it might still act as a sway bar?

started working ole bessy again. started jacking the body up to pull the frame out from under her. heres some picks of the progress so far tomorrow im going to get some cinder blocks and get it up higher and remove the front tires and put the stockers back on.

DO NOT use cinder blocks under the cab or truck they can crack and break without warning. Cut up some 2x6s and nail together instead.

I personally liked the truck as low as it can go...haha. Nice looking truck and if that is your personal garage, my goodness your one lucky man. If I ever won the lottery that would be one of my first projects...BIG ASSS GARAGE!!.

Anyway wanted to ask about the hood, is it bolted down or did you just lay it on? It seems to fit so well and didnt know if you had a little info on how to make it level with the lines of the truck. I have new hinges for the hood but I need to cut a notch out of the firewall and drill slot into the new hinge to maek it sit correctly (well i guess thats what I have to do).

Anyway if you had any suggestions or you are coming into that stage please post what you had to do....

Once again sweet truck...oh yeah I have a 62 Uni myself...and good luck in your build.

not really sure what your asking but the hood is bolted down. all i did was bolt it to the hinges and set them up for the fenders, you may need to play with the adjusters up front or the hinges. are they after market or factory? if after market then i don't know what to tell you because the after market has tolerances that are out of this world for so many different years of trucks. and yes thats my personal garage its the first thing i did when we bought our home is to build a 24x40 garage and built it myself thats why it didn't cost a arm and 2 legs.

new work that i finished on the slick and hopefully getting the 4-link put in this weekend and the 9in rear end finished up so i can get it blasted and ready for paint.

Just an opinion but you might want to gusset the frame rails top and bottom and make sure they are true before you box them with out a jig. Like the forward progress!

so far its stayed in track the pinion angle is at its 3 degrees and its tracking square so just the other side and she is done.

just ordered my front brackets and once they get here ill be ready to get the bars cut down to the right length and then they will be getting powder coated.

started on thye body work today and heres where i am so far, i laso got in the mail the other day the front brackets and will have those on later this week.
