There just aren't a lot of Slicks available around here.
But I discovered the problem of why.
The farmers are still driving them.
I did run across a young man with a nice 63 with a 302/ 5-speed and a Mustang IFS named Heath.
I asked him to join up with us so be sure to welcome him when he signs on.
His truck is pretty amazing because it has NO RUST. In the bed, the cab, the tailgate.... no rust. And he's doing a really nice job on the mechanics.
This is going to be a really nice ride when he's done. He's talking about the "hot rod primer" paint with ghost flames. Should be way cool.
I took pictures, but I won't be able to post them until I get back to Texas where I belong.
I also shot a long bed 66 with a load of bicycles. Seems like the owner is a bike collector. Its bone stock, and I guess he drives it every day too.
So far, I've been 40 miles east and west of Coffeyville, and about 30 miles south and I'm still looking, but every time I see a Slick, it has a driver inside.
Rats.
I think I'll drive north tomorrow and look around. Who knows what lies around that next curve.
Later guys.

Skip.
My wife is from Coffeyville.
She was born and raised there, and my mother in law still lives on 100 acres out to the west of town.

Hey Skip!

My wife is from Independence, KS, just 15 miles N. of Coffeyville.

I live in Fort Scott, KS, about 90 miles away. I've got a 66 F100 that's fairly beat up, but very driveable.

I'd love to rebuild her, but on a teacher's salary, who knows?

Try the salvage yard in Neodesha, KS...I think they have two or three. It's a little town about 45 minutes N. of Coffeyville.
