Another Newbie w/ a Question

Post by H-town64 »

Hello Everyone!
I have been reading this site for a while and it is now time to jump in with questions and comments, both stupid and insightful (hopefully). I acquired, a while back, a '64 swb f100 for the bargain price of $0.00. The truck came originally w/ a straight six and three speed on the tree. I have a 460 and C6 tranny I am trying to stuff into the truck and noticed something that may or may not be an issue.

The rear appears to be a standard Ford 9" but as I looked down the centerline of the truck, it appears the yoke and imput shaft are sitting off center to the passenger side. I am reluctant to position that big engine that far over to compensate and keep the drivetrain in a straight line.

Am I seeing things or is that yoke off center? If it is, what do I do about it? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks from H-town!

It is off center. It really doesn't matter, since the U-joints need an angle to work. (Keeps the bearings free.)

As long as the pinion angle is correct, the engine is level at the carb mount, and fairly straight in the frame, it'll work.
