Black Friday/ Cyber Monday etc

Post by ripsnorter »

Not really anything to do with trucks, but I'm curious how much you folks get into the whole deal shopping thing. Theres Black Friday of course, (dont really care about it, refuse to stand in line) and Cyber Monday which is basically onlines version of Black Friday.

(black friday for those that dont know is the day after thanksgiving, the biggest shopping day of the year. They usually have really good deals on things, like $200 laptops, etc)

about the only thing I bought, was a decent camera finally, a deal on a 2GB memory card for the camera ($13) and a few odds and ends I needed for my computer.

If anyone is interested in this sort of thing, a couple of places I'd recommend you check out:

http://www.slickdeals.net/

and http://www.woot.com

woot is a special type of website. they only offer one deal per day. Today it might be a $2000 big screen tv for $1200, and tomorrow it might be a rubber ducky for your bathtub for 25 cents. shipping on everything is always $5, whether a 72" tv or a rubber ducky. Whatever the deal is, after 24 hours they go onto the next deal whether the current one is sold out or not. Some of the really good deals will sell out in the first hour.

Anyway, a bit of an offtopic, but I'm kinda curious if any of you folks even care about any of that sort of stuff.

(by the way, occasionally slickdeals will have deals on tools such as craftsman floor jacks for $25 etc)

Standing in line with 10,000 other ravenous shoppers to give the store your money.:?
No wonder they call it Black Friday.

I would be in the mood to gun down half an Army after 5 minutes in that line :x

I been wanting to go to the local Wally World with a case of Stink Bombs in my pocket just to see what happens. 8)

But they don't sell any Slick parts so no reason for me to get inline at 5AM.

Hey, Slickdeals doesn't have a thing to do with Slicks, damnit.

heh. silly me i didnt even realize slickdeals + slick 60s :P

I absolutely refuse to go stand in line though. and 5AM is wishful thinking from what i hear... apparently there were people standing in line since 7PM the previous night.

(shakes head)

I'll happily go digging for a $200 price on a $400 camera online though.

that doesnt mean i have too much estrogen or anything does it??

Some kids just got busted for settin' off acid bombs in a Wally Mart in Maine or New Hampshire (I think).

Idiots were recorded on the zillion cameras around the store. Not sure what they were trying to accomplish. All it did was make a few folks teary-eyed.

Hell, just hanging around phRed for a few minutes will do that!

Being that I, like my wife and dogs, dislike about 80% of the general public...
 Most shopping for the holidays gets done at Menards since it's a lot less populated than WallyWorld! Not a big online shopper but thanks for that WOOT site. They seem to have my attention span in mind :D

Because if all those "shoppers" don't line up to spread cash around, mercantile books would be in red ink.

But since the "sellers" have convinced so many to wait in the pre-dawn lines to put out their $$$$$$$$ for easy pickings by them (stores & merchants) they can still use black ink, thus it's "Black Friday".  :?

But I say a Skunk is still a Skunk even by another name.
