Road trip / Tearing the 302 apart.

Post by clevor347 »

Went and saw a old girlfriend over the weekend saw a really nice 64 swb f100 for sale i'm gonna try to get. isn't a lighting bolt a v8? started pulling the 302 apart.. more than likely gonna stroke it. the crank looks like a panther scratched it to pieces and the cam isn't really pretty like a motor with only 58000 miles on it should be.. somebody had fun with this motor lol. What does a roller cam conversion kit look like in a 302?

61-64 all had the gear/lightning bolt hood badge, the v-8 one came only on 65/66 with the 352.

lightning bolt

Post by brian gilbert soares »

Hey all,

the lightning bolt does signify a six cylinder, but it is such a cool emblem. 8)
My truck is V8, not the original big block 352 but a 302. With the V8 front emblem.

Like ice says"the v-8 one came only on 65/66 with the 352."
all 64 down had a gear and lightning bolt on all trucks, 6 or 8

roller conversion kits... requires holes tapped and drilled in block and a special flat-tappet-roller conversion cam:

No, you can't. something is different on the cams for the converted blocks, maybe the bearings, I am not quite sure. You have to use a roller conversion cam. Or the connected lifters in this article
