i was just curious
ripsnorter and i were wondering earlier if anyone names their cars/trucks. i've always named mine. my first car was brit (short for britain) because it was a very british blue. then there was iris (who unfortunately had a transmission that blew), and i have chubbles now.
i named our truck Sirius which i think is a freakin' awesome name. not sure why i like it so much. i've managed to talk ripsnorter into putting a really small, discrete star somewhere on it when he paints it, maybe a half inch big.
but we were just curious of all the names out there.

I have not named my truck but I sure have cussed at it beat on it cut the rust out and modified it. And still do not know what to name it. See my truck is confused anyway Because it is a 65 F250 4wheeldrive and Ford built it this way it has a 59 to 60 4x4 frame and bed a cab from a 64 and engine and bags and grill for a 65 So you tell me what is a good name other than a seven letter word
"Never underestimate the power of your actions. With one small gesture you can change a person's life - For better...or for worse." 1965 F250 4wheeldrive 390/4speed/dana 60 rear 3.73/dana 44/PB

Vehicle names
My 65 Slick has been Old Blue since my grandad got it in about 1980. My 66 Slick is The Green Goblin (I even painted it on the cowl). Momma's 95 Mustang is The Horse. The 81 Granada is The Granadadadada (per my 4 year old son). The 2000 H-D Sportster is The Grape (it's NOT purple...It's Concord Grape!!!) The 78 Kawaski is simply Dad's Bike (it was my dads when I was a kid).

My 66 is named "The Heap". I named it way back in about 1982, after about the 4th time it broke down & I had to push it, then walk home. Most of the breakdowns were usually my fault, because I was a dumb kid (ok, still am, but with less hair ). I used to joke that half the mileage on the odometer was from me pushing it!
My "Slickitis" affliction began here...

Most of my who-knows-how-many cars and trucks have not had names, but for some reason almost all my Ford trucks have.
My '79 shorty 4x4 was the "Easter egg" truck, it was cream/yellow with multi-colored tape stripes on it.
my '78 was "Big red"
and my "72 was turquoise , so of course it was "Big Turq"
my '63 Uni was a nightmare to acquire, a nightmare to get roadworthy enough to ship, and a nightmare to actually ship, gaining it the moniker "Jinx"
So far, my blue Merc has not got a name, but it might end up "Jeanne", the name of the girl who is with Marlon Brando in "Last Tango in Paris", plus it's blue.. "Blue Jeanne"... not sure yet if that one is gonna stick

My 62' is named "Eunice", my 78' is "The big brown truck", When I bought my 69' Ranger that I used to have, the guy said "Do you name your vehicles? We always called this one "Mable" so Mable it was, never really named vehicles before that. The 65' doesn't have a name yet.

Always called mine "My ...". My 62, my 37, my 454, etc. Might need to name my 64's, guess one could be "TIB-atha", the other "Vickie" (tho my mom in law is Vicky..lol)

The '66 has always been called "my truck" or "her truck" as opposed to "The '53", "The '69" also known as "The Ranger", "The '99", the "Super Ranger" ('94 Ranger extended cab with camper shell), "The White Truck" (modified '96 box van with box removed, sleeper attached and lots of hitches),""Big Red" ('50 F1) , "That d*mn Ranchero" ('65), or"The '84", Bigfoot" ('74 cab on a modified schoolbus frame with a home made dove tail bed). Fortunatly for parking only the first 6 are still at the house.
I have never named my vehicles. Unless you call yellow truck, green truck, etc. names. I think known show cars should have names, it's part of marketing them I guess. But to everyone else, it doesn't have much meaning except to the owner. I try not to get that attached to vehicles. Makes things complicated when it's time to move on to something else.

Ezer, nice '68. I see someone smoothed the badging right off it, but you can't mistake a bump for anything else. or is it a '69?
The Dept of Highways used to paint all their vehicles that colour ca. 1968 around here. Goldilocks is way better then any reference to Citrus Fruit, eh? LOL

My Grand Marquis has peeling paint, so a large portion of it is faded red oxide primer. Hence, it is known as "Mr. Pink".
My '92 Integra is unofficially known as "The Green Bastard". Though I don't often refer to it in that sense. It's usually just "my car", or "my Integra". I haven't had it long enough to regularly refer to it by name yet. Plus it's been very reliable, so it just doesn't have as much character as Mr. Pink does.
The '62 uni isn't officially named yet.

Or course that was before they elected Pierre Trudeau* Prime Minister in this country
He renamed the Dept. Of highways
"Le departmente du Createur de Potheul et Chovele Leanuers"
(*Biggest arse, bar none, that ever set foot in Canada, if I ever find his grave I am gonna dance a little jig, with a pirouette there)

Once upon a time. . . . I had a 66 E-150 extended Van, & my Slick at the same time the Van was "Henry" and the Slick was Henry II, Duh I wonder where I came up with that combo. . . . .
I got relieved of the Van (Henry) then Henry 2 sounded sort of "nothing" and stupid" so I quit. Besides since I went with the 460 and got into the 12's it doesn't seem right to have a cute name. I don't want to sound boastful with a threatening name, so it's "Slick", Since finding this group .
I have a 10th generation T-Bird Coupe with roller 5.0L EFI etc I call "GenTen", which always gets a HUH? from clueless people within ear shot.
I have an 88 F-150 XLT Lariat with a 4.9L and a Matzah 5spd OD that I call trouble because it is nothing but.
Y'all gotta sit for this. Ready? I got a real, incredible, uh? Aerostar 4.0L V6 , AWD, AOD, XLTN, 9 psngr, Loaded Van w/ a quarter million miles on original power train! It's "My Van" . . . . .( like Mikes rides)
I named my Peterbilt Diesel Car "Bogart" because it's how I pushed it down the boulevard, when I drove it,
Thus I have "Slick", "GenTen", "trouble", and "My VAN". So yeah I name my vehicles, they all have different personalities (in my mind of course).
Probably more than anybody wants to know huh?
