Door handles/windeow cranks solution?

hey gang. need advise on keeping inside door handles and window cranks on the spindle/post. I order new replacements and we've managed to grind off the ridges even when we torque the set screw in as tight as possible.

Thanks for any solution(s)...

Yeah the replacements I got did the same thing. I ended up drilling the little set screw hole a little farther in so it could screw in some more. Worked fine.

you saying it strips the spline off the shaft, or what? that's no good...

Sounds to me like the window guides are too tight for one and so are the door latches. Did you take the window regulators and door latches off and clean and service them???
When I put new guides in the 61 it was a bit tight but no where tight enough to cause the problems you are talking about. The window regulators on these trucks are a bit on the wimpy side, with only one arm to push the window up and down they are tricky to adjust and they will cause the window to run crooked in the guides. I am going to put electric lifts in the 62 when I rebuild the guides because they run straight up and down and support the window much better.
Good luck fixing the problem. Can be rather frustrating some times

I dunno, when I was working the regulators over, I found them to be about the simplest and easiest thing to deal with. No crooked window problems or anything.

Just bolt the thing in, roughly center the shaft in the hole and get on with life... easy as pie.

NOTHING like the mess in my mom's '69 camaro... those regulators are AWFUL.... Like 7 axes of adjustment, and hard to get right....
