mother nature 1-------farm shop 0 HOLY MOLY BAT MAN !

Post by slick4x4 »

i am really bummed about this.....
unusally heavy wet snowfall with strong winds put a huge drift on top of the shed. Sons 63 was in there getting a rebuild on the 223....
big ole dent on top of cab...
could have been worse i guess.

I hate to see that. I don't have a snow problem here, but my shop outside has a huge tree leaning over it and cool old car inside. Now I am scared again.
I hope the damage on your son's truck is easily repaired. That is a painful picture to look at.

the problem was this building's peak runs east & west...
and the prevailing winds in the wintertime come from the north.
result = huge drift on south side
built it about 15 years ago, has seen snowy winters before
i guess this was the straw that broke the camels back......

wow.....
thanks for the offers..
this is what makes this site so enjoyable, just like a family we can poke
fun at each other occasionally, but when someone is having a bad time.
here comes offers of help......very humbling...

but actually the damage is very minimal...just a small (2-3) inch deep
dent about 10 long 6 wide to roof... (did not damage doors)

main reason bought this truck so son can learn.
(thats why we are rebuilding the 223) been cheaper to find a donor...)
now he will get to practice a little bodywork

once again , thanks

Not only can he learn some bodywork, but some carpentry and roofing skills as well. ;)

I'm certainly glad no one was hurt, and that the damage to the truck is minimal. Good luck with the repairs.

you know the old expression ...he could fall into a bucket of sh*t, and come out smelling like a rose ?
well i think it finally happened to me...they totaled the building...gave us full value.
i think i can finish off the concrete...new rafters with ceiling...overhead door...& insulate....and still put extra $$$ in the bank ( do most work ourself) am very HAPPY....
and here is the bad news....the reason it was insured correctly was because my wife....colleen (the pitbull) had us put on extra coverage last fall.
she cant say ''I TOLD YOU SO" enough...oh well ...i just hang my head and grin..

It sounds like you are going to turn out well on this. Make sure that you think about anything that you want to change or possibly add in the future so that it can be prepared for now.(tall garage door, car hoist ,etc.)
Sometimes you just have to let the wife have her "Told you so" moment. I just let my wife tell me and then thank her for it.

Gotta love a happy ending, where a garage (shed) is concerned. :D
