Hotels

Post by Kid »

Hotels around here are giving me fits. There are still so many things to do around here in Aug all the Hotels are still going strong. We can not get any in Ankeny Iowa ( Home of the First SlickStock ) as there is a Farm Progress Show the same week. Hotels in Altoona are busy because of the Casino and Adventureland Park. I am going to Colfax and see the other Hotel Manager Tomorrow but the problem with that is the distance from Des Moines and everything we want to do. I talked to one Hotel in Colfax and the Asst Manager was all pumped up but when I talked to the Manager she just didnt seem to interested in us filling up her whole Hotel. I am going to talk to the Hotel Ken and Alan and Lyn stayed at last Year and see what they have to say. My only problem with them is the way the parking lot is set up as they have Semi parking that goes around the whole building and they have a partial gravel lot. If we want to stay in Des Moines we will be closer to things to do but farther from the restruant we are planning on for supper Friday nite. I have One place that would be almost perfect but I was quoted a rate of $129.00 a nite but the Manager is going to call me back next Week and see if she can get the rate a little lower for us. She was pretty happy about us wanting to stay there. I just wanted to vent a little and to keep you guys up to date on plans.........................Kid

Just throwing it out there, but if things get to be too much of a logistical nightmare, why not just adjust the dates for SlickStock altogether?

The one and only time I was at Hooters, Image my wife TOOK me there. Long. story.. Ask me about it the next time you see me... probably at SS4

My truck was definitely a farm truck. It is currently sporting 1964 farm plates. I can stick a beer in my pocket, and Pat and I will go check it out.
