IDK banjo... that sounds pretty odd.... I wouldnt assume that to be the case. Aggie does enough sputtering and coughing up fire on occasion for me to say I dont think that is the problem here....

The only time a bad switch has caused problem for us, my Ma's Camaro had a switch that was going bad, and it would randomly cut out when she was going down the road, occasionally coming back to life in a few seconds, while it was still rolling, with a nasty backfire...

I would primarily think the advance is a little goofy, and the mixture possibly a bit too rich, I think?
MAKE SURE to check the vacuum advance. If it is shot, you'll have all sorts of fun trying to figure out why it won't run right.... Just suck on the hose. If you get a mouthful of stinky air, it's shot.... You can pop the dizzy cap to look while sucking and make sure it IS MOVING, and hasnt bound up...
'63 with 390 & lots of juice. But never enough. Always want more.

460 Timing

Intetresting you mention the ignition switch. I replaced the switch a few weeks ago because the old one was plain worn out. The key would fall out everytime I stepped on the gas. The new switch sticks so I have to quickly return the key to "run" position. But I did go for a drive and it is now running really good. Thanks for all of the help.
