are you hooking up an antenna and using the radios antenna trimmer adjustment screw while bench testing the radios?

when i was testing the last radio i saw that little bolt and turned it and discovered its function. it got a little better but still a long ways from a radio that i would listen to. i have tried different antennas also but still the radios still are not very good. am radio is just not very good anymore. i don't like sports radio so i really don't care but i like everything to work. trimmer adjustment screw . so that's what that thing is called. thanks.
