That's a great lookin' house JC, congrats!
Looks like you're plenty close to your neighbors, too...just like I am to mine. :?

You have a basement beneath your garage? How thick is your carage floor/basement ceiling?

wha.gif Dang JC, you must be doing real good to get a place like that. Looks huge from what I can see. Ought to be room in the garage for a two or a 4 post lift, too. 12 foot ceiling, oh yeah! TR

TR the house is 1422 sq ft. and the basement is also developed, roughly another 1100 sq,ft. 29 years in construction should get me something dude LOL

Slick, the basement under the garage is created by using hollow core precast, 8" thick x 4' x 24' sections, then it has concrete topping over it about 3" thick. So the floor/basement ceiling is roughly, with the concrete spadrels and the topping, 11" thick. Similar to the construction you would see in a parking garage. It's for my kids to rock thier little band in, no one can hear notihing, kind of like a bomb shelter.
Yes too close (8') to the neighbour, but there is only one on a corner lot.

*sigh*. wish I had that guy's cars in that pic. worth more'n my whole house a few times over.

House look's great John. Should be enough concrete there to keep from blowing over in that Leff-brige wind. Colors look great too. We'll have to make a road trip after Christmas!

Thanks for the comments guys, I had a good laugh writing it. 8)

don't everybody wish they had the matchbox collection in their garage?

yaay, another completed truck on the near horizon!!!

I wish I had a large enough wad of cash... and some extra time... But alas, I drive Aggie every day, so all is good!

Looks like the house is coming along nicely! 24 x 24 should be plenty with the high ceilings. Any special permit issues regarding the high ceiling, or is it fine because it's attached?

I'll be moving into a new place myself pretty soon. I get to upgrade from a 14 x 20 single detached to a double detached in the spring. Hopefully! I'm thinking a 22 x 26, but height limit for a detached here is 14' 6", so I'm not sure that lift-friendly ceiling heights are kosher. Maybe with a special permit, not too sure yet.

But in the meantime my poor slick gets to spend the winter outdoors, so I don't anticipate much progress... :(

We have the same height restrictions here for detached garages, Jason. pretty much limits your garage ceiling to 9' or less depending on garage width and roof pitch, unless you use a flat roof.

But yes, I got away with it because it's attached. What's probably gonna screw my use of a lift is the point load on the structural concrete floor.

Yes, I can see that being a problem. At least you'll have plenty of storage space up above for shelving! That's what I'd like to achieve. I'm thinking of incorporating an open storage loft (for light items) into a standard height detached. I'll be limited on width (narrow lot), so I'd like to make use of some of the vertical space for storage and keep the floor space as open as possible. Then I may be able to do a frame-off, with one bay for the frame and one for the body.

I don't really need a lift, but they sure do seem handy.
