Slick 60's

I am using a generic gravity feed gun with a 1.4 tip. I use a 1.8 tip gun for the primer and I have a small gravity feed touch up gun for small pieces that has a 1.0 tip.

I wet sanded the fenders and tailgate that I sprayed yesterday, there were a couple runs and they are easier to sand out when the clear has been recently sprayed. After that I painted the front valence and piece above the grill, busy day

I'm getting close to actually putting color on the truck. I primed the hood and bumper, now it's back to the sanding

I found some time to spray the insides of the doors. I am not a painter by trade and it has taken me some practice to get my new gravity feed guns adjusted properly. I followed some directions I found on the www to adjust the fluid tip for correct coverage and that seemed to help a lot. The clear laid down nice, but a little dust got kicked up, I think from inside the doors and embedded itself in the clear. It's not too bad, I'll be able to wet sand and buff it out. Next week I'll separate the bed and cab so I can sand those areas. Then clean the garage and the truck, and start spraying paint on the bed, cab, outside of the doors, and hood.

I like the blue

I'm trying to get it painted by Father's Day, we'll see how that works for me. My wife is not a fan of the blue,...yet.

I'm jealous. You're way ahead of me on projects. Keep it up, looking great.

I got the outside of the doors painted today, they came out good, some dirt in the clear (again) but it'll wet sand out. I separated the bed and cab to sand in that area for the last time before paint. Tomorrow I should be able to paint the cab and possibly the bed if time allows. That will leave just the hood, bumper, and grill needing paint. I couldn't resist putting the warranty tag back on the driver door, the paint needs something for contrast.

Today is the day I've been working hard to get to for the last 8 months....paint day. This wont be Astronaut quality, I lack those funds and his skill, but it should look good once it's all wet sanded and buffed out
I just sprayed the roof in Olympic white, once that dries I'll mask it off and spray the rest of the cab, hood and bed in Grabber blue, then clearcoat all of it. It's going to be a long night.

Love it! This may be my favorite build happening right now. You're getting things done and it's looking great.

I put in a lot of hours today getting the paint on. Once the white roof paint dried I masked that off so I could spray the blue. The basecoat laid down nice, the clear has some dust (again). So tomorrow I'll start the wet sanding and polishing, then once that's done i can put this truck together...finally. Still have to paint the engine.

Got some wet sanding and buffing done today. The hood, doors, bed, and cab are done. I managed to buff through an edge on the driver door when I got too close to it (it happened so fast I could do nothing to stop it, but swearing made me feel better). I was able to spot paint the area and I'll buff that again tomorrow, I'll notice the paint repair but nobody else will. I aligned the bed on the frame and then started putting some dash switches in. Tomorrow I'm going to install door glass, weatherstrip, latch assembly, then hange the doors.

All that long hard body work is paying off! The paint looks great!!

More progress on the 64 today. I assembled the doors, and installed the door weatherstripping. I DO NOT recommend the LMC door weatherstrip, after I spent an hour installing them I re-hung the passenger door and it would not close all the way. The door was aligned correctly but the weatherstripping was preventing it from closing fully. Once I found the offending areas, near the cowl and the latch, I had to carefully trim them so they weren't so thick. Once I modified the weatherstripping the door would close fully. After installing the passenger door I buffed the passenger fender and hung that. Then with help from my son I installed a new rear window ,from LMC also, but it fit great It is starting to look like a truck again. I dropped the seat off at the upholstery shop yesterday and he said 10-14 days to install the LMC seat cover I brought him.






Spot repair of the door edge I burned while buffing, it came out great
