Slick 60's

I've got to get that pane of glass put back into the window sash above the garage door...lol. We had high winds over the week-end and it blew out...surprisingly it did not get broken.

Hi steve, shop looks great. If the wife starts planting flowers and such, you just have to drag some parts out there for storage. The bed is looking good too, i am about to start on my bed. I am a flareside and previous owner tacked sheet metal over the rotting wood floor, so i suspect that is going to be a major effort. Stance looks really good, I am thinking about the leaf spring lowering, so will have to see how yours works out. I saw you put mono springs on the front, but the pictures dont show up any more early in the thread. That will happen if you moved the pics to a diff folder on postimage. I will keep reading to see what you did on the rear.

Thanks Jeff...I did pull the entire front suspension out about a year and a half ago. Sold it as a unit...mono-springs, axle, disc brakes, sway bar, and shock absorbers. I have installed an '87 Jaguar XJ6 IFS. I did detail the process on pages 18, 19 and I think page 20. Sadly I have twice "fixed" the pics on here...and they still go away....That's why everyone is bailing out to Facebook. This build thread is about to "peter out" so to speak. It's easier and quicker to just go to Facebook and read and post...

Rear shock absorbers were shot. Cheap basic Monroe's. Installed some high(er) end Monroe air shocks on the rear today. We will see how it rides now....

On the same note...I will probably have to C-notch the rear frame or cut a small amount off of the rubber snubbers...or bumpers...or whatever you call them. I am hoping that the new shocks will keep the frame off of the rear axle. It sits low in the rear and I don't want to raise it any.

On a similar note...I still haven't finished with the bed...really I haven't had time to start on it. Still wanting to weld some patch panels in and strip the inside and repaint the entire bed. THEN...install the new Trex in the back.

Getting ready for Cruise-in season....

Shocks are great.... really great. The truck now rides like I want it to...money well spent. Took the bouncy bouncy bouncy away....good shock absorbers will do that.

Doesn’t help with all that freaky rain and wind we just had roll through either. I need to do taillight replacement on the F150 and every time I go to do it we get tornado warnings.

I’m still stuck waiting on head bolts, no cruises for me till late summer I suspect.

...and life intervenes. I guess that it is a busy spring-time for everyone...including me. Lot's of "other stuff" has come up and I haven't had time to work on my truck. I have some things to do...but just can't get the time...

Finally caught up with Spring time projects around the house. Started reworking my bed by stripping the paint off of the inside walls. Found some bondo under the paint that was there when I bought the truck. Cleaned it out and found severe rust-out...rot acutally. I am going to cut it out and weld in some fresh metal.



I also repaired the lower area behind the rear wheels on the outside of the bed. I just didn't get pics...Then I removed the drivers front fender (1000000 rusty bolts) and had to replace some rot above and below.




I am not a trained welder...or body man. I just watched some videos and did research and do the best that I can. My plan is "In for a penny...in for a Pound." I'm going to go ahead and repair all of the rusted placed once and for all and reshoot the truck in white.

It has a few imperfections that will buff out...but overall I'm happy with it for now. Let it dry, give it a light sanding, and shoot another coat on it.Planning on installing it tomorrow. Then on to the bed sides.....

Thanks! Again, it's not "body shop" perfect...maybe a 10-15 footer. But the rust and rot is gone. The paint is rustoleum and it flashes to a semi-gloss to satin finish, which is what I wanted.

I did a "quickie" shoot on the driver's bedside yesterday. It turned out okay. I have some commitments over the next few weeks (Virginia Christian Camp, I'm a counselor) and then I want to put some more time into it...

I also became a member of the Southeastern F-100 Club...So far it is a great group...

Cut out the rotted section of the bed and welded in a new panel.


Started installing the Trex decking in the bed...

Assuming you are spraying the Rustoleum out of a gun you can also add a hardener to it.

Bill...I had thought of that. I did shoot it from a Harbor Freight gun. The local NAPA would carry it.

Not much happening lately....busy getting stuff done around the house and property. Last year we dropped a 120 foot oak tree on the back of the property and I'm still cutting it up! It was 12 feet around the base. I need to get that cut and cleaned up because I am afraid of having copperheads in and around the tree laying on the ground. My wife and I are wanting to get the house repainted this season also. I'm wanted to put a fresh coat of paint on the truck and my wife is "hinting" that I should change the color to a light mint green...kind of a "retro" color....then paint the wheels a cream color. I'm seriously considering it. We will see.....
