mine was also stuck in 4x4 when i got it, turns out it was just glomed up from setting. hopefully nothing major on yours either.
looks good.
You called it. I took the side cover off of the case after draining about a cup of water out of it. I wanted to see what damage had been done rust wise. Turns out very little rust inside but as you said the shift bars were gunked up and had some condensation rust going on. Rustbuster in copoius amounts and lube and one more problem eliminated. Thanks for the heads up.
glad to hear it.
been looking at your original pillars and cab mounts looks like i rebuilt mine back pretty well correct.

Well this is the 4x4 slicks maiden voyage under my ownership. It should be back on the road for many more years. Still have to finish up with a complete brake job, exhaust system and a title then its on the road. I doubt it will see much road time during the winter you might say the old boy is in retirement now. He deserves a nice rest after being worked hard for so many years.
Time to get back to the first project at hand the 63 F250 4x4. Its been waiting patiently.

Full brake job in progress. As soon as the 65 is parked outside it will be back to working on the 63 again. It has been neglected for too long.
Tight quarters but its all I have for now.

Wow, You took the plunge on this one. I really like the flat black along with the black wheels and the white walls. It has a real nice look with the white walls.
Keep an eye on the starter with it being that close to the headers. It will over heat from the headers. My plan for my 65 2 wheel drive is to get rid of the headers and go back to stock manifolds. Right now my starter is going bad from the heat. A minnie starter would also help to get away from the headers.
I really like how your truck looks. Keep the pics coming.
I will get back into mine full steam after I retire. That is around 1 1/2 years yet. Then look out!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is your truck a F-100 (1/2 ton)? I see it has 5 lug wheels. Mine is a F-250 (3/4 ton) 8 lugs.
I'm going back to the original color when done. Rangoone red.

Thanks the flat black was just a quick rattle can job to get it down the road a year or two while work contiues on the 63. Yes this is a 1/2 ton it is the little brother to your truck. Yup the paint when finished will go back to the original geen thats on it with some sort of white top. Whole truck was green but I want to change it up a little.

Thanks Wyatt I had the help of my youngest son that helped cut labor time down on alot of stuff. The wheels and tires you see on it now are only there temporarily. I bought those from my neighbor who was parting an early 80s f150 for $40 just to get something on it to move it with. The narrow whites kind of grow on ya. Gives it kind of a late 60s early 70s retro look. I found those hubcaps at P&S in the back of a 72f100 the two front caps were in pretty bad shape so cut the centers out to fit the hub and tapped out as many dents as I could not to bad for daily driver. Final plan on wheels and tires are to find 2 more 16" 5 lug innies and go stock steel wheels with some big aggressive mud and snows not to wide but not to narrow. Repaint back to the original color caribbean turquoise color. Glad I can inspire you to get back to your 65 last I saw it it was looking pretty well on the way to being done.

Thanks sgettin I will slow down a little now. Ive got to get the attick area of my garage insulated so that I can start to work on the 63. Before I get started on the 63 I have to teach myself to mig weld so I have a few projects lined up before I get started on the cab of the 63. I have gas welded before and mig does not look near as hard.

Thanks thrush544 it took a little longer than I thought it would. Started on it last spring in March took 11 months and that was hitting it pretty hard.

Not sure where you might get those from. Probably need to find 64-66 4x4 or F350 64-66 being parted out and get them off of the frame. You might post a request in the parts needed forum on this web site. Maybe a member of this site will have some to sell. Try Toms Flashback 100s he is a member of this website. I dont remember his web nick.
