Damn.
Its over already.
We had a great time and had a tremendous turnout. I don't know how many showed up, but it was more names than I can remember.
I think everybody scored some goodies and we sold a lot of stuff.
Lots of Slick trucks around too, and I can't believe how much FE stuff we saw.
The weather, except for late Saturday was the best we've had in years. Overcast, cool and very pleasant. As I said, Saturday was a bit much. Usually we have our tornado late Friday night.
As it turned out, about 1:30 we all felt a cold chill and started smelling rain. I bailed with my crew and headed to Babe's for fried chicken while everybody was giving us grief for "being" chicken. But the sky really did start falling about 3 so I'm glad we got out when we did.
I want to personally thank Chris and Jenny for a great cookout Friday night and another thank you for all the Slick members who showed up. Got to meet a lot of new faces including Flashback Tom.
Can't wait for next year. PFM is needing your commitments for spaces next year ASAP so we can move closer to the entrance. Let him know.
I'm assuming the guys will start posting the pictures here soon.
See you guys next year.

Here are a couple of shots I took.
Stormy Monday my butt.
Saturday was ugly and here are the storm clouds that just started rolling in before we bailed out.
The second one is a group picture that was taken just before the storm.
The last one? I told you there was a ton of FE stuff. Eat your hearts out.
I personally saw at least 7 sets of tri-powers too.

Thought this would be a good place to add my few Pate pics. First, I'd add my thanks to Chris and his family for taking care of all of us weak, stinky and hungry folks. Great food and tons of it!
This was Friday when our legs were fresh. Like Skip said, tons of FE stuff to be had. Strange how things pop up in bunches during certain years.

This is my favorite pic of Pate. We all thought it was great.

This is what we wanted to get away from. No description necessary, just ask the Dallas Cowboys what it was like.

I'm already having Pate withdrawls...

Just a few drops LOL
Yeah I ran off and missed the group picture. The rain only lasted an hour or so, it was only over the tops of my shoes. Got some last minute bargains inluding a set of door pockets, good enough for my driver truck.

Pate 2009
Well I guess I should chime in here and tell something. Got to Pate on Wednesday afternoon. Drove through rain almost all the way from OKC. That's a real adventure without wipers I'll tell ya. Not much to see when we first arrived, but we walked around for a while. Thursday and Friday the temps were nice, and no rain all day. The place filled in good by Friday evening, and was busy all day. Sold a few things which covered most of my expenses for the trip. We had planned to camp out, but with wet ground everywhere and possibilities of rain in the forecast each night, we had to go to plan B and slept out at Chris and Jenny's in Haslet. Bunked in the barn and stayed dry thanks to them. Chris and Jenny put on the major league feedbag for all of us Friday night at their place, and everyone got good and stuffed. Thanks to them for all the hospitality. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday we became regulars at the Snooty Pig for breakfast. Saturday we had to scoot a half dozen tables together to accomodate us all. That waitress we had did a bang up job, and she got rewarded for it. Our South Texas friends all made it once again, and if you look in Skip's group photo, you'll notice Lyman missed being in it. So......I decided to add him in here.

Lyman taking a power nap. Just wore himself out looking for bargains.

Thursday and Friday I walked around snapping pictures and came across this '41 Diamond T pickup. My friend Jerry had never seen one before, and didn't know they made smaller trucks. Most Diamond Ts were road rigs. I think they're way cool.

Found this 57 Fairlane with a neat little camper trailer hooked to it and painted to match. Felt like I'd gone back in time 50 years.
[albumimg]5669[/albumimg] [albumimg]5668[/albumimg]
Didn't see but one Falcon Ranchero there, and this was it. Never saw it move all weekend. Guessing he had it bagged.
[albumimg]5672[/albumimg]
A Slick with a rather creative way of camping and staying up out of the wet stuff.
[albumimg]5671[/albumimg] [albumimg]5670[/albumimg]
Found this COE hauler up in the car corral with a little T roadster on the back. Roadster had a flathead V8 under the hood. Whole thing was built old school style. That's me in the orange. That's Jerry next to the front view.
[albumimg]5665[/albumimg] [albumimg]5674[/albumimg] [albumimg]5675[/albumimg]
Nice 66 F250. Wasn't for sale, but was a driver. Looked like it was well cared for.
[albumimg]5664[/albumimg]
Found this 48 rat rod FI with a 460 under the hood. Had a leopard skin pattern interior, and was way up on the "Cool" meter.
[albumimg]5676[/albumimg] [albumimg]5677[/albumimg]
Here is another rat rod that was a driver with a little flathead inliner between the framerails
[albumimg]5681[/albumimg] [albumimg]5682[/albumimg]
And for all the Y-Block fans in here I didn't forget about you either. This one had Mercury Valve covers on it and was just spittin' disance from our spaces.
[albumimg]5680[/albumimg] [albumimg]5678[/albumimg]
Any of you that are able to should make plans to come to Pate next year. We will be moving our spaces back over closer to the main entrance from the parking lot for next year. This is always a fun time and a chance to get together with other Slicksters and hunt through the largest portable salvage yard in Texas. See ya there next year TR
