SS withdrawels

Post by Truckrat »

No withdrawels here either. Too much work to get done on the truck before next August. More like playing "beat the clock."

I think it was mentioned before that in order to gather the number of people that have attended SlickStock, it is best to do it every other year. Helps in saving a bit, finishing projects, taking time off, etc.

Having it every year would be cool in ways, but I think the numbers would dwindle depending on where it is.

Too much of a good thing I suppose.

The other thing to remeber about this is that SS is Just like this web site NON-PROFIT.
A group of members in an area decide to host the get together.
They arrange athe hotel and area no charge parking, the tours and the road trips in their spare time.
Run fund raisers to pay costs and create seed money for the next one.
This a large time cosuming task.
I think Max is correct if we did it annually the numbers would dwindle and it would be harder to raise the funds nessary to run this twice as offten.
then we would have to look at enry fee's and the pay organizers.
All this is not what SLICK STOCK & SLICK 60's is about.
The web site is donated by Jim Dog and the moderators police the site in their spare time because their love of the group not the money they are making off it.

Slick Stock is a gathering of Friends/ club members
All Are welcome Truck or No Truck
Bring the Familyand Park your vehicle break out the lawn chairs and have a good time.
NO ENTRY FEES, NO JUDGING, NO TROPHIES, & NO HARD FEEINGS!
Just a gathering of Friends you have never met or old ones from the last SS.
As someone who has attended one I would not mess with it as it works.
I will never miss another one
But I too miss not being able to go every year

Thanks to all that donate their time and efforts.
Sorry for being so long winded Just my opinion.
Looking forward to seeing everone next year!

Aah, I see now, I didn't realize so much went into it. I thought ya'll just picked a hotel and got together to hang out.

I was thinking about what the Bronco site does. Once a year we pick an offroad park somewhere around the southeast and meet up for a weekend of camping and wheelin'. Over the years it's grown to where more and more people try to make it. But it doesn't cost the site anything and nothing is really planned other than picking a park.
