Been tryin to go hunting for more parts for my fridge but all of my good yards have either crushed everything they have and closed up or took everything pre 1980 and crushed it due to the crazy steel prices last year  . You guys have any yards close by yet with slicks and fridges in them?

i didn't know that's what they are called. i just picked up a 59 4x4 about a month ago, the cab is pretty bad. haven't decided to keep it or not

How bad is your cab? I have a decent 57-60 Big back window cab. It needs cab mounts but to it's credit, it has solid stepwells.

the 59 was the first year for a factory ford 4x4
on 4x4s the VIN # start with f11 or f26
2 wheel drives start with f10 or f25
NOT the case for 59s and 60s
the 4x4s and 2 wheel drives both started with f10 or f25
the ONLY way to tell Factory 4x4 59-60s was a brace that was welded in
the cab...(from the rear door post to the floor, triangle piece)
they put them in the 4x4s to stiffen them up for off-road use
except for this one piece... the 2 wd and 4x4 cabs are the same

copied this from the HAMB

Hilliard's is the junkyard by Vestaburg, north of M-46 a few miles, on what we call Winn Rd., but it's also called Crystal Rd. It is open on a variable schedule, depends on how Erv feels. Usually it opens around ten in the morning, and you have a better chance finding him open Tuesday-Friday. He's been sick, is going blind, and can be very unpredictable. He has a guy helping him, his kid I think, but Erv still decides prices. He'll probably let you take pictures, but ask first, lots of stuff, but condition is poor. They usually remove all parts, but that depends on the day.
Two other yards are Foxes on the north end of Harrison, turn east just past the State Park, and turn north just before US-27. Looks like your going down a driveway, past a lake, keep going. A drive leads east about a half mile and there is a sign. Lots of newer stuff but some old Buicks, mopars, and a row of Camaros, and a few others, he said no cameras. Swains' junkyard is east of Bellaire, west of Mancelona, on M-88, that is northeast of Traverse City. They let us drive around, lots of stuff but mostly newer, and looks like its been bulldozed to make roads. Some older stuff toward the back, just have to hunt around for it. Let me know if you get up this way, I might be able to join you.

There was a yard on 31 about 25 miles north of Manistee that had some old stuff but has been close to 10 years since I was last up that way.

there aren't any because most of them are still on the road and
every once in a while,
someone down south buys one and finds out the hard way it should of been in the salvage yard!
