Bottom of the bed

Post by Roc »

Hi , I would like to remove the bed to scratch the little rust and repaint it and do the frame also , I would like to know if it's just simple as a few screws to remove and if just two guys can lift the bed alone ?
Thanks for your answers

Yes 2 guys can lift the bed alone. It is a strain 3 or 4 would be better. I lifted my bed off and put it back on with just 2 people. That wasn't an easy task but it got done. After that I will only use a host or A frame to lift them. I was a lot younger back when I lifted the bed...

I'd think you'd need 4 guys to lift the bed safely. Should only be like 4 bolts and the wires to the tail lights to remove it. Not sure as the guys that removed my bed when I went to purchase it....well, they used a torch and other tools of destruction. But they did load it with only 2 guys...2 very big guys...and it was a short bed.

My '65 has a shortbed and I think I had to grind off 6 or 8 bolts that held the bed on. My husband and I lifted the bed off, but it was heavy and I suggest using more than 2 people.

There's 6 in the bed and then 2 under the bed near the bumper.

Yeah, like was said, un-fasten the bolts and disconnect the wiring for the taillights and tag light.
