Is the bed a 64?
I was told today that my bed is off a a 50's something pick up. I didn't think it looked correct, anyone want to give their opinion?
Also notice that the winch is gone, and the bumper of my 69 GH parts truck (the push blocks make it look mean) is going in it's place.
The next thing to go is the long overhang on the rear bumper.

You can't put a price on a good time.

The bed is correct for your truck. Ford did that all the way to 66 in the F250's. They did put the correct bed on the F100 65 and 66. You can hide it by installing the custom cab trim moudings from a 63 down the sides. The 63 trim is narrower than the 64 thru 66. If you can find the trim The trim helps hide the body lines. If someone has a pic of a 63 with the tim you could see what I mean. All the 63's were made this way. Look at MadMax's truck.

i dont have the hood trim on yet but here is a pic
[albumimg]1341[/albumimg]
kind of snowy but you get the idea.
also i have one of the sliding step bumpers on the rear, it hangs way over like yours. i set it so its a couple inches behind the tailgate when its down.makes it impossible to back into the tailgate.
the other option you have if you really dont like the bed is a lwb stepside bed from 61-63,or from a f250 4x4 up to 66 will bolt right up.a lwb uni will also fit .

The 57 to 60 bed is correct for the following trucks.
62 to 63 2 wheel drive model 81
61 to 65 F100 model 81 four wheel drive
61 to 66 F250 Model 81 four wheel drive
Garbz
Garbz, you have hit on an interesting point I have long wondered about. Did the 1961 2 wheel drive ever come with the 57-60 bed or were the only choices for 1961 the flareside and the unibody????? :?: :?: :?: (not including the stake bed/flatbed option).

ford used the bed only on the 4x4s in 61. due to the fact there were sales issues with folks wanting a separate, not flareside bed, they brought back the 57-60 bed for 62 and 63.
so, your choice for f100/250 in 61 would have been
long or short uni, long or short flareside
or 4x4 with 57 bed.very few of these were made.in the early factory 4x4 years,(59 was 1st year) there were still lots of 4x4 conversions done by NAPCO and others.
