Since the first went pretty good & got your thinking caps on :hm: , Lets see if you get this, Its in 2 parts this time
Part 1: there is another section on the cab that is on 61-62 cabs but not on the 63-64 cabs

I olny have three one 63 cab and two 64 cabs personally I like the 63 cab best. The heater is differant and the air vent is differant I like the pull cable vent for the passenger side over the flap

the difference there is the heater itself.the heater with the door or flap for the passenger vent is the deluxe "magic-aire" heater.
the magic-aire heater circulates outside air thru the cowl into the plenum, the standard heater only circulates inside air.
the magic-aire heater will not work with the vent door open as it blocks the intake to the plenum and strains/chokes the fan motor.

I did not know that Iceman. Also is there a hose that goes from the vent to the heater on the 64 cabs? If so I have I have never seen one. They have all been tooken off.

there is a flexible oval duct that goes between the plenum and kickpanel (vent) hole on all the 61-64 magic-aire heaters.
65-66 have a longer round flexible duct and a triangular door for the vent.the duct on these is to a separate hole and the vent does not affect the heater.
the magic aires coolant flow is regulated by the temp cable under the dash, it opens and closes the valve in the heater hose from the block.
the heat cable next to it opens a door in the plenum allowing the heated air to exit.
the heater fan switch and cable pull another flap which will force heat out the top = defrost or the bottom=heat.
non-magic aire heaters have a manual type valve on top the block to turn off the coolant in the summer.the heater fan switch is as above.

Well I can tell you my truck is missing many pieces on the heater. If the 64 cab had the coolant valve on it it was missing I installed a water cutoff valve for in the summer so as not to have heat in the cab. When I changed cabs to the 63 cab I installed the cutoff valve. And the 63 is also missing the hose from the vent to the heater but I like the vent better more air flow in the summer.

I'm stumped. :?
We are talking about just the cabs, right? Not the whole truck?

part 2: is it something besides the roof?

It's been raining, so I haven't been out to look, maybe this weekend.

Oh yes its in the cab,,, the roof has been done , rear cab corner has been covered, so there is two more places,, Iceman brought it to our attention & wanted me to double check what he found on some of our trucks to be sure we where on the right page, so that is why he is silent

Donknow is this is the answer you are looking for, because they were both '64 cabs.

But Chads '64 cab he did the big back window on and mine were different. The piece that the door striker attaches to was seamless on my 64, went from the bottom to the top of the door in one piece.
My older (63) cab and Chad's cab had that section in two pieces, pinch welded together where the roof meets the cab.
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

My 62 and both 64s are welded like Johnny's 63. One 64 from Dallas, the other from KC, the 62 from Dallas.

the part referred to is on all 61-64 trucks, does not apply to 65/66 f100/250 2wd and 66 f100 4wd.
it is sold as a replacement part for 61-64 cabs but is not going to match all those years although it will fit where it goes.those who have both a 61 and a 63 should see this if they watch where they put their feet.

this is not related to the above.
i was gutting a 61 door yesterday and discovered that the door handle is held on by 2 phillip screws , all the later ones i have gutted used a hex head screw for the one inside the door, and a phillips on the one you can see next to the door seal.
the hex head ones are easier to remove, luckily i found a screwdriver to cooperate on the 46 year old screw.

The kick panel step? If so, which part...the vertical or the horizontal piece?

Part 1-You are not talking about the clean out holes at the front of the door sill are you? thought we already did that too..

Part 2- is this something to do with the floating gas pedal? changed 1/2 way thru '64 according to the LMC catalogue?

we have a winner!
61-62 steps have ribs all the way across, 63-66 they stop short at the front.
replacements are the 61 style.

Mike, how many 1000s of times have you looked at those steps and not seen the difference?
i happened to be looking at the floor that im using on the uni-crew & its a 66 and i made note to cut at the end of the ribs.then i was in the bus looking for something and saw the replacement steps and i realized they were not the same.then i trudged thru the snow opening all the doors of the trucks.61 was the only one with full ribs on the step.i had 2 so knew it was not a big/little truck thing.
63,64,65, and 66 were all the short-ribbed steps.had enough trucks to check.

Cool, I prefer the way the early ones look, my self.

I've about decided to do something a bit different with my CV project, so the steps are going to need replacing.
