Update:

Tranny shop called and they finally got to tear into my tranny. They found the drive clutches are burnt up (this truck didn't move but 500 feet) the other clutches were fine (explains why D didn't work and R,2,1 did). They also said that the Pump Gears were install backwards which caused pressure problems that would burn up clutches. I'm not sure where exactly the gears are (Inside it somewhere) but it proves it wasn't rebuilt incorrectly. They are gonna check everything else in the tranny now. They said they should know more monday. One step closer to a running truck.

Yes grits Slickstock is next year. :D

Glad that they found a problem inside. At least that way it is not another guessing game.

Yeah.... Well, I don't know about getting much back from that place. It'll be hard to prove much over such distances. You could *maybe* get your current tranny place to write a statement and then take them to small claims court here in KC. But small claims is hard to enforce -- even if the judge can be convinced to find in your favor (doubtful).

Your credit card company is unlikely to be much help, BUT, it might be worth a try. Assuming you can get the TX tranny place to put their findings in writing, your CC might honor that.

I feel personally bad about what happened -- I have some experience with that tranny place in North KC. I went there a couple years ago, when my Ford 9" rear was "clunking" after braking and then accelerating. I had experienced that sort of "clunking" before -- when I had personally swapped the yoke and over crushed the crush sleeve on a prior rear diff.

So anyhow, I described the "clunking" and asked if he (the owner) knew how to replace and torque a Ford 9" crush sleeve and yoke.

He informed me that a Ford 9" rear diff did NOT HAVE A CRUSH SLEEVE....

So I walked away....... No sense trying to convince an idiot that he's an idiot.

When I heard you had decided to take the tranny there, I was worried, but I didn't want to disagree with a recommendation you had gotten either. I cannot remember who it was who suggested them..... Anyhow -- life is a series of experiences. Some don't end as well as others!!

I really hope the next tranny place has got it right!!!!

Good to hear your Texas trans shop has found the problems you have been having, finally! At least it sounds like they have a good grasp on the right way to do it. Wishing you all the best in getting the "Crew" back on the road for good. Been a long time coming. TR

Well finally after all this I have a good tranny under the CrewCab. The truck has been picked up and drove good.

Those pump gear being installed backwards were the problem... So now to do some other things to the truck. Sure is nice having it back home, it took way to long.. :)

(like adjust the brakes)

Update on the build. I finally have the truck back home. (it has been to the trany shop twice this year (2nd time was due to a internal tranny electrical problem)).

I have put 50 miles on the truck and all is going good. Now I need to focus on the little things like the missing drive key lock, rattling door corver and getting the bed painted to match the truck. At least I have a spare bed to work with.

I also need to get this filler neck working right so I don't take 20 mintues filling up the truck.

At least I can drive the truck while I work on the little things. :)

Well this is Texas and our "Winters" are in name only. The high today is 48 (we had our first freeze last night (25deg)) by this weekend our high will be 77 deg. So yea driving it most of the winter is not a problem around here. :) We might get lucky and have some snow/ice by late dec or Jan if we get anything at all. The bad days I will leave it parked but we don't have many of those.

I sure would like 2 feet of snow one year.. I might have to move to Montana but that would be ok by me.

Thanks for the compliment on the truck.
