Uni Side trim????

Post by Satinblack »

So is the long side trim thats runs the length of the body an option? My 63 custom cab doesnt have it. I was wondering if it was an option or is it supposed to have it, or was it for 61 or 62?

One year only, '63, and extremely hard to find. Way longer than any other trim, on a long box it's over 9 feet..

Pretty sure it was optional. With a CC, you could get practically any option combination you wanted, it seems. Most buyers checked off the side trim option (especially in the 65-66 years), but not all.

Get this...sun visors & windshield squirters were optional too, on these trucks. :? Although, I think the visors may have been standard on CC's...at least I haven't seen any CC's without visors myself.

visors could be installed on only one side. my 65 f350 only has on drivers side, pass. side hole has a knockout plate if you want to add the visor.

61 f500 came with no horn, wiring in column not there, or parts in steering wheel.

some trim i got

Post by Satinblack »

I did grab some custom cab trim at my buddys yard so it wouldnt get crushed.

Off a 65 or 66 I believe

1) Both sides aluminum trim that runs on the inside above the doors along the headliner (Kinda highlight the side window area

2) Pass door trim that ran around the door handles and such for the door panel

3) Trim for two tone paint on dash, small piece on drivers side and the long pice that runs along dash to the pass side

The aluminum trim along the side for a 63 was the same 63-64.. 61-62 had no trim available and 65-66 were different style. It was an OPTION to get the trim on both standard and custom cabs.

Prolly 'cause the F-500s used air horns, as did the F-600, 750s etc. Most companies that bought these trucks added their on stuff. Don't know abour F-400s but I believe they came with a conventional horn. Ford may have optioned the regular horns on the big trucks but fleet buyers rarely had anything added unless it was cheaper than doing it themselves.

yep, plain Jane trucks.
i do know where there is a custom cab f600 dumptruck, has a nice interior with padding on dash and door pockets.been sitting a while time to inquire soon.

as far as i know and it is not listed in the factory manuals there was never an f400, they went from 350 to 500.
think it was late 80s or early 90s when they came out with the f450
