Beat your chest hard boys, keep Fords in Fords. There is no reason (excuses) for anything else!

the truth shall set you free
got this from somewhere a few years ago.i added the smileys.
And on the seventh day the Lord did drive his F-100, and it came to pass that he popped the hood to gaze upon the 460 He created, and He saw that it was good. And the serpent was upon the motor which had 8 venturis, and this was also good.
So the Lord closed the hood and did drive from the garden of Dearborn, until he came to the house of Chevrolet, where Satan was complaining that his cam had walked thru his tin-can timing cover .And the Lord didst ask "Why art thou persisting with that crap? turn thee to the light and see that it is blue"
and Satan grunted for his waterpump-on-a-stick did fall upon him, and he was of foul humour .
seeing this the Lord didst spin his tires all the way into 3rd, and lo satan was enshrouded in a curious blue mist that not being of oil didst confuse him and he was unable to see the light.
And so it came to pass that Satan remained loyal to the house of Chevrolet .Amen

AMEN!
That's the first time I've seen that comparison & it leaves me with some thoughts...
*Why do the Chevys still have such a huge following, then? I don't get it?
*Maybe that explains why all the aftermarket crap is so cheap? Because they have to buy so much of it to bring their stuff up to snuff?
*For years, the 429/460 was thought of as a dog (a lot to do with the heads), why has it taken so long to see some due respect in the R&D end?
*I still like my 390.

I've said this before, but it's worth repeating.
When asked why they chose a Chevy engine for whatever project you're discussing, the usual reply is "because the parts are so cheap".
I always reply with, "So what does that say about the owner?"
My book, "How To Make Friends At Car Shows" will be published soon.

I once remember seeing an article in a HI PO boat mag from one of the performance boat builders. He said that used exclusively Ford 385 series engines. Said he could buy chebbys with higher HP ratings but the 385 made more "usable power" the boats were simply performed better with a supposedly lower HP rated Ford.

One thing I learned the hard way about the "Blow Ties" is crankshaft thrust bearings do NOT WORK WELL on the last journal of the crankshaft.
Rotational mass in motion generating such kinetics as in a high torque, HO type, engine requires crankshaft thrust be mitigated more near a center of the rotational mass. This is especially so when it's time to lay torque on the pavement.
I threw my Chevy flywheel all throughout a pristine FoMoCo coupe I had put it in. Cheap parts & rapid response of that handgrenade engine killed my car, nearly killed me & nearly killed a guy in a car next to me. It happened on Up Shift approaching 8K. I let my clutch out it was over!
My coupe got riddled & ruined by shrapnel. I wrecked it when I lost steering as remnants of the block dropped onto the steering linkage. Next it pole vaulted over the drive shaft or transmission or both as they dropped to the road. And here for all that time growing up I thought that's what MOPAR stood for! Motor On Pavement After Race,.
But even MOPAR has enough sense to place the thrust bearing in the middle of the crank, so do all the other GM Brand engines.
I run my 385 series & have for years now. I get beat from time to time as we all do. BUT I have not scattered any engines, wrecked any more cars/trucks or put innocent competitors/ friends in jeporday because I am running an explosive orange hand-grenenade of an Engine.
I've worn a few 385's out tho', but they went nobley, I drove them home to swap them when their time came. The Bottom Line is It seems I always get what I pay for.
D-Ya know where the Blow Tie Emblem came from? I heard it used to be a rectangle but when GM cot done cutting corners on it it resulted in the trapizoidal polygonic icon we all see today. Even making them FoMoCo Blue as GM did in the late 80s-& 90s didn't make the Blow Ties any better IMPO.
[in my prejudiced opinion] Hah ha!

Yes , Dwight as my buddy physically PUSHED me away from a "freindly" discussion I had with a fellow about his putting a SBC in a deuce coupe, at a car show this summer, I believe I was following the book...
How did I miss this thread?

My father always told me, "the apple dosen`t fall to far from the tree, Usually". So the tree in this "ointment", is GMC which I always heard was "Garage Man`s Companion". Nuf Said!!!
