Anyone for a get together?

Post by fire truck »

I was thinking, while the rest of the slick world is freezing we can be greeting. I'm thinking February to holiday recovery time. The place would depend on where we all agree on. I've got a couple acres and a fire hall here.

what do Y'all think?

I would be up for a get together. I'm in Monroe, LA. I guess technically I am a member of the SW Group but I guess you guys will let me cross the line (river) for this event.

Where would we be talking about having this shindig?

I'd probably be up for it, but can't say definitely for sure. I'm near Atlanta.

I was thinking here on the coast at the MS-AL line unless someone pipes up with something more central in MS or AL, heck I'd be up for even going up to TN.

I was thinking somewhere more central, maybe near I-20? Why not do a member count in the states most likely to attend?

That would work for me, but I'm only one of (hopefully) many.

Meridian looks good. :)

I'm like 20 miles from the Alabama state line off of I-20.

Fire truck: May I suggest that you also post a note about the "get together" under the Trucks or Off Subject sections in the event others do not get over to the regional group posts? I know I often forget to check those.

Meridian is not too far from Chattanooga. Atlanta is closer, though.

Birmingham is real close to the center of the region. Trussville (exit 141 on I59) has a bunch of motels and food places. There is a little car show here in April/May time frame that is open so we would all fit. Just a thought.
Many great Fords,

IF it's in January/February, I'm out. I got a chuckwagon cook off in Pigeon Forge in February, that's gonna take all my "traveling" funds...unless it's closer to Atlanta.

Hey guys, I just found this subject. I do not look in the regional section.
I am all for it! Like Ford Blue Blood stated, B'ham area would be a good spot(although I am a little biased because I live there). I was thinking April would be a great time of year...not too cold or hot, and far enough away from Christmas and Slickstock to not hurt the wallet.

The weather could be a lot better in April, but would put it too close to the Pate Swap meet in Dallas, where we hold the "Mini-SlickStock - South" (end of April) for me. I already have $100 invested in space rental there.

Still too cold to think about a regional get together?

A few years ago, maybe five years or longer when we were at the msn site we had the get together at my house in the summer. We had a cookout and a good time. We had it that once but never could get another one. I suggested that maybe we could have a get together in a year that Slick stock wasn't going on. That way if we didn't have it every year we could have in in the off years. We were going to meet up at some rally or show. So if its too hard to do every other year you might could do it every other year. I for one probably would not ever be able to go to the national one unless its here in the south. But I might could make a regional one.

I agree with willy...the national is usually too far for me & my baby, but a regional one is doable. So far, the suggestions have been: Atlanta, GA; Birmingham, AL; Chattanooga, TN; & Meridian, MS. It also seems that MARCH would be the best month to do this. SO....a poll. maybe? Or it just might take someone with a field and large grill for burgers to say "I'm having a shin-dig on __/__/2010 and y'all and your trucks are invited; bring own meat to grill, a dish to pass and drinks to share along with as many of your family members who'll put up with a bunch of sliksters."
