Not real sure what I saw tonight

Post by BMJ's 65 »

I stopped to look at a 65 CC long box tonight along HWY 34. It was saggin bad. The skin was pretty good, but the box floor and the cab mounts were toast. Had a 352 with a 4 speed. Here's what I'm not sure about. It had an AC compressor on the engine, but the only line coming from the compressor ran to what looked like a 1 pound bottle, and then out to a Neatly coiled air line on the inner fender, capped off with an air chuck. Does this truck have it's own mobile compressor? I may have to go get some pics Sunday.

Engine driven compressor. They are popular with the Jeep crowd for on-trail repairs...

sounds like a homemade air compresser to me. seen more than one ac pump being used for an air compresser.

There was an accessory package that came from ford with a generater mounted under the hood. Forget what years this was done, sometime after our trucks , perhaps the early 70's. It was electric start and worked off the trucks battery. Just a piece of trivia that might be of interest to someone.

Rich,

That was a small Onan generator under the hood. It was an option on the "Camper Special" package.

the one i almost bought was a contractor special.
too bad the generator was the best part of the truck, would have made a nice donor for a slick but otherwise it was in bad shape.
