Finishing your slick in time for SS08
Finishing your slick in time for SS08
How many members other than myself are trying to get their slicks finished and on the road in time for SS08?
My goal is to have mine broken in at least 3 months before the big trip and everytime I'm working on mine, I wonder at some point how many others are turning wrenches with the same goal ahead of them.
I know a lot of you are already driving yours, but a lot of you aren't yet too.

Well I am hoping I have my Chop Top 64 there. I will need to do quite a bit of work on it to be ready but I think I have time. If it isnt ready I will bring my 65 ( 2700 miles to SS-06 and back with only minor problems). If I don't get a chance to put some miles on my 64 before SlickStock I may trailer it behind my 65 just to be safe............Kid

I'm trying darn hard to get one of them going. The easiest would be my 62, needs a head gasket and carb. Doubt if my CV will make it, at least not finished. Son's 64 might be fairly easy, got an engine for it, need to find a tranny and bellhousing.

Iceman are you going to make it? If so I should at least try to make it there. Maybe I could get Lonnie to come along and Fordzilla.

current completion date is controlled by my bodyman.
all fabrication and trial fitting is complete.
body paint and final assembly is all that remains.

yes, i am going to be there but i definitely will have to drive as i cannot deal with being stuck in an airplane for several hours on the ground. trying to escape that condition would obviously lead to more confinement.

Slick under construction
I've got a ton of work to do on my flatbed between now and August of 08.
I hope it all comes together so I can have it on the road by the time the Pate Swao Meet comes around in April of 08. That'll give it a good road trip to see how she runs before making the run to KC. I don't think it will be much to look at though. We'll see. It's all abouit the fun isn't it.

I have serious doubts about having the 64 done by then. Uni will be running in about a week. It will be road trip ready by then.

My list for SS08
Well meeting everyone at pate got me thinking more about SS08.. I think I am going but there are 2 major things and one minor thing I have to get done before I will make the trip in Lucile.
1. Dakota Front end swap done and completed. Frame blasted and painted.
2. 460 EFI Conversion done and running on new frame. (this include bronco tank swap.)
Minor task
3. AC for august weather. Creature feature for me on long drive. This will be a strange feeling to have AC in the truck.
Also a new wind shield.
So question for anyone semi near me (zip 76052 haslet tx). I need a 61-64 F100 shortbed frame to work with for dakota swap. Anyone know where I can get one, and also fairly cheap?

You have definately been Jinxed! For the rest of you out there, 61 Merc has purchased Mr. Canuck's prized black uni out of sheer sympathy. It seems that Mr. Canuck has acquired a condition that occurs near midlife : that causes one to spontaneously require acrylic gull winged vehicles of 1970s vintage

Well. .
My 66 F250 CC Camper Special is ready to make the drive next year. But hopefully, if the water doesn't rise or the wife makes more home improvement projects, I want to complete the resto of the 1961 Caveman truck camper I have. If it's done and the gas isn't 5 bucks a gallon next year it should be there.

When we hosted there was a sorta registration that let us know who intended to be there so we could make up goody bags, etc. There was alot of people who came that wasn't regist. and alot people showed up the no one knew that just heard about it and showed up. Trucks do not have to be done or run we just encourage everyone to come and have a good time.

Guys, don't worry about how your truck looks or wether it is completed. Slick Stock is about having time to talk and get accquainted and have a lot of fun. My truck won't be close to done (if it ever is???) but I plan to steal ideas from the trucks that are there. Come and meet the folks you talk to on the website and on the chat. It is a fantastic time.
